yummy sardines on toast an jam puddin and custard to finish
do you make your own custard bob, hi bob:rotfl:I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
Yes i do, but i am a birds fan....although i don't eat a lot of dairy and will have custard, about twice a year, same for ice cream and stuff.......Hi back bubbles x
Another thought for jam, is a layered yoghurt drink, jam, yog, fruit jam and crunchy bits on top, meringue, ginger biccies, chocolate..mmmmmBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

That sounds rather nice as well!
I want to go to Aldi.. or Lidl.. but both are really awkward to get to and the extra bus fare needed if I buy any amount of stuff counteracts the savings a bit. Same with Asda  Was thinking I might try out local market on Saturday though as I need to head over to that part of town for some other things.
Not much going on today - I'm quite achy from the rounders game, not used to throwing balls and my arm hurts!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
That is because you haven't practised turnip lobbing...builds up muscles that does!
Does OH drive, if that is the case why not arrange for him to take you, just have a look and see....have a look at supermarket.com, put in your shopping list and see what comes up.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Nope, he doesn't drive either! I might see if my parents will take me when they're down at the end of next month. I could just about manage Aldi on foot and bring a rucksack of stuff home, as long as I don't overdo it.. would be good exercise I suppose! Not as good as turnip lobbing though...Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Well i can see it would be a problem. so sneaky solution could be that Asda has free buses in my area..is it the same for you?
shopping trolleys are very chic at the moment, foldable ones very user friendly, so can stuff more in, and doesn't hurt arms when transporting them. If Asda do have free bus and it is near Aldi, well there you are...double whammy!Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Ooh I don't know, I'll need to check that out! The 'big' Tesco near me runs buses, which I thought were free, but discovered they weren't when me and a friend walked straight onto one and got shouted at by the driver:rotfl:
Have been thinking about the times when I tend to spend more on food, and it's usually when I'm really tired (or hungover  ), so reckon the solution is to make sure I have plenty stocked up in my freezer so always have something there to grab for tea or to take for lunch... lots of portions of curry, chilli etc, pitta bread type things, and maybe portions of cooked rice so they can be stuck in the microwave.. I really am very lazy sometimes
Looks like my weekend is going to at least partly consist of shopping and cooking.. really need to find something to occupy myself for the rest of the time..Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Thats exactly the same for me. I was in town and getting hungry, and it was only the thought of our challenge that stopped me from buying a huge bag of crisps - I couldn't have called it socialising money, it would have been me stuffing my face as I walked along. Not a good look! I don't have any freezer space to prepare stuff, so all I can do is remember how quickly basmati rice cooks (and always have a saucepan clean to stick it in!), plus baked beans will do nicely for starters.... they're healthy, anyway.
NB, my Asda do free buses too, they have a printed timetable available from the store. Of course, you have to *get* to the store first...2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Well done on resisting KC - it is quite motivating having to add these things to the total I think! Talking of which, I had a detour on the way home via a little Indian supermarket someone at work told me about and got some big bags of lentils (red and green). Have to admit to a 'pop in' to Tesco as well, as I'd run out of deodorant, and got some more reduced stuff in there - so spent £9 altogether. Was going to make some sardine pate tonight but Tesco had some 'Finest' smoked mackerel stuff reduced and I worked out it cost about the same so have had that tonight on toast with a salad of spinach, homegrown lettuce, homegrown spring onion, beetroot chutney (my mum's) and pickled cabbage. Along with some of the mint cordial made yesterday. Might do some batch cooking tonight but tempted to leave it till the weekend cos I don't think I'll be doing much else.
Did a search for Asda free buses round here, but only came up with a timetable for one route right over the other side of town. Still, in the post when I got home was a £5 Sainsburys voucher from ToLuna, there's one of them near work so I will try to spend it wisely!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Ooh, that sounds good! I'm soaking some soybeans, but thats about my lot right now. When I get a pigsback voucher, I'll use it for the Waitrose pesto I'm addicted to, that'll help. Oh damn damn damn I *must* repot that basil plant/those basil plants, they're starting to wilt there's so many of them in there. And water the herbs I planted. Oops. Better go!2023: the year I get to buy a car0
