Aww, you don't know what you're missing (all the excitement of a plate of salad and a bowl of soup actually :rotfl:). Morning all! Got an exciting training course today ... and really can't be bothered - ho hum! Still feeling a bit tired after the weekend, didn't sleep that well last night.
Not quite finished the holiday bookings, still to do the last hostel.. spoke to my friend about it last night and she's not paying the bits she's put on her credit card until after we get back so I've got a bit of extra time to pay her what I owe her. Felt a bit awkward as she was saying I could put the things I've agreed to pay for while we're there - it's all very complicated but it works out eventually! - on my credit card too.... errr.... yes... that'll be the credit card that I haven't been able to use for two years then...I'm planning to put most of my money onto my prepaid debit card and use that so hopefully I won't get any awkward questions....
Anyway, must dash.. have a good day everyone xDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Thats a tough one - hopefully the prepaid thing will solve it for you. I feel for you!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I have researched prepaid cards to the core and of all the benefits of prepaid cards listed, I dont think there was one that quite covered this scenario!
You should write to them and ask them to add this as a benefit of prepaid cards if it works for ya!!
All the best!!
Do you just go round searching for the words 'prepaid card' - looks like it from your posts!
I've got money saved up, I'm going to load it onto my prepaid Maestro, I will then be able to pay for things by card rather than having to carry too much cash - and it kind of saves me the embarrassment of having to explain why I "don't have a card"... :rolleyes:Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Psycho_Mantra wrote: »Hah hah :rotfl:Not really but its the one area where I worked with one of the big firms in the UK for 2 years and in "prepaid" terms, that makes me an expert! ...err..but tell me why Maestro and not MasterCard?
It was a good deal when I got it - cashback and reasonable charges. Charges have gone up a bit but I don't generally use it a lot, usually just for the odd thing online.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Evening.. well it's been a mixed day - training course was mindnumbing, although I did end up in a group with a load of the managers which made for some interesting gossip! Got back to the office and did a bit of work, then went out and played rounders with workmates.. wasn't going to go as I was knackered but made a spur of the moment decision to go for it anyway.. good grief I was rubbish! :rotfl: Was fun though and chatted to some people I don't usually, so felt like a small step in the right direction.
Starving now, off to make pasta with the remains of last night's soup as sauce...Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
And on the subject of food.. just been looking at the wonderful Weezl's new grocery challenge on Old Style - 50p a day from now till Christmas! - and have been inspired to give something similar a go. I usually budget about £50-60 a month, but find that stops me bulk buying as I'm trying to only spend £10ish a week. Decided to have a go at budgeting over the next few months, I was going to start once I get back from holiday but why wait? So I'm going to try to feed myself, buy cleaning products and toiletries.. for £150, starting now, finishing Christmas Eve! I have got bits and pieces in at the moment, probably won't need to shop till the weekend, but it seems like a nice round figure and date to start from, it's roughly £1 a day if you take away the fortnight I'm off on holiday... think it could help me be able to have some money for other stuff, e.g. the classes etc I've been looking at, and really focus me on making sure I take lunch to work... wish me luck!
Tomorrow.. I need to make a start on job application, have a look round for more... might go to class at local gym depending if I ache after tonight! Need to do some washing and do a bit of research into cheap recipes for the challenge above.
And now, I'm going to stop watching Gordon Ramsay cooking exciting lovely things.. and go to bed! xDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Well done, she is one of the reasons i am doing the same as well. I have a bit more to play with as am budgetting for 4, so it works out at 55p each, even so you will be surprised when costing up meals what it can come to.

And i am doing it trying to fit it around SW!!Not too bad at mo, but buying all the fruit can be a pain, especially as my lot eat it! And i prefer HM bread to the cardboard which passes as a healthy extra.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
