    Thanks for this Mrs Tine,

I was on depo for 3 1/2 years and found it fab, but now on the mini pill and have been having heavy periods every other week. I am allergic to latex so am really scared of trying condoms of any type. We got married two months ago and are hoping to have a baby sometime next year. I am considering coming off the pill as the doctor says this is the only way my periods will settle down. I am worried i will become pregnant really quickly as every female member of my family conceived within a day or two of coming off the pill!
    Oh well

Try a different pill :) The one I found worked for me is one of the most expensive called Mercilon and it works for me - BUT - all people are different. Your doctor should try you on a different pill. Being off the pill made no difference to my 2 week cycle at all unfortunately and it took a few attempts to find the right one. I've tried Cilest, Dianette and all sorts. I guess you need to look at what type of pill you're on - is it oestrogen only, progesteron or a combi? Could they try you on a third generation progestogen pill like Mercilon maybe?
One of the benefits is that it helps with particularly heavy and painful periods (which I suffer from anyway) and is often perscribed for women with irregular periods.
I'd say it's worth either speaking to your doc or getting a second oppinion from another doc before coming off the pill and risking pregnancy if you're not ready for it :)

I got the Merena coil fitted about 18 months ago as I get severe migraines and that was my only option.

Bit uncomfortable getting it fitted but nothing horrendous - like mild period cramps.

I only get a period about once every 3 months (although rather annoyingly I get PMS each month regardless!!).

Have had no problems whatsoever and I love the fact it is there and I don't have to worry about it. My migraines got no worse on it and as a bonus my skin cleared up a little as well. Yes you bleed for a few days after it (light spotting) and it feels 'odd' at first but that soon goes as you get used to it.

I personally would throughly recommend the coil. Doesn't interfere with your fertility and if it doesn't work for you then you can get it whipped out as easily as it goes in (I had both done at the same time as I chamged from 'normal' coil to Merina one)

    good luck :)

You can get latex free condoms free at the FPC with your C card.

Good luck with baby making when it comes (pardon the pun!!)

blushingbride. I have no idea if that is normal or not but go and see your GP / Family Planning Clinic. A reminder:

my dh can feel my coil but it's just the strings poking him lol:rotfl:
as for the cramps i would see your doctor about that as they were one of the first signs i had of endometriosis (sp?)
I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.
