Thanks for all your excellent replies. I have hung it next to the radio and it's currently listening to Steve Wright on Radio 2 at the mo. Scary thing is it got more answers to the daily quiz than I did:eek: It looks very clean and shiny (cos I havn't actually used it yet) but I will deffo give it a go now I know what to do.

Question: Will the whipped desert thing as demoed on QVC work if you use simulated semi-skim milk ie whole milk with a splosh of water? May give it a whirl tomorrow with some wild strawberries. Thinking about it I may have to try that on Firday cos I've just finished putting the finishing touches to a strawberry and sherry triffle that should feed at least 20 starving dockers by my reckoning.

Only thing now is to think of a suitable name. I have to name all my appliances/car/favourite jacket etc. I'm thinking Saundra or Caseopea but I'm undecided and will sleep on it.

Off to give my Kenwood (name: Krystal) a reasuring pat, she may be old but I still love her and I don't want her to feel left out cos there's a new kid on the block.

A word to the wise: When making Sherry trifle don't drink the last half of the bottle cos it aint worth putting away. (Ask TM she knows what I mean) he he he

sooz - it sort of works, but then has anyone ever managed to do the things they do on the tv adverts with these gadgets : :D

The only time I really got into it was when I was make cappucino type drinks, but they were liqueur ones, so after a couple you don't care whether the milk is frothed enough :D

(Oooh, there ya go MATH - another use for your stick blender. I know you'll enjoy sampling those, cos, like me, you are in favour of a marinaded cook from time to time :D)

have to admit i bought mine for quite a bit over 100 pounds  at an ideal home type show, but only coz of the skimmed milk thing. it was the only thing i could get my son to eat. still haven't worked out how to make peanut butter though...has anyone. the woman showed us with just peanuts in the blender with mill attached, but mine just makes chopped peanuts. even adding butter just makes a mess. still trying.

I have an ancient Braun someone gave me. I use it for blending soups in still in the saucepan so I don't have to faff transferring it to the blender (which wouldn't even be big enough for the quantity I make anyway). I also just used it for Curry Queen's curry when you have to blend the onion mixture etc. It rinses under the tap and just seems easier than dirtying the blender/smoothie maker thing.

Sounds like you had the same Braun stick that I had, which recently gave up the ghost after 10 yrs solid use! I've replaced it with the current Braun model, only I also have an added chopper thingy now too, as the blender bit is detachable!

I wouldn't be without mine, even though I have a blender and FP, as it creates less washing up! ;)

Don't do sherry but I cook with wine a lot, and have to agree that if opening a bottle for a glassful in a dish that you really need to polish off the bottle for maximum effect ... and at least it compliments the meal :D

I sat watching Sigourney last night (GITM) whilst peeling a huge bag of onions ready for pickling :D

Meant to add that the tears that fell during the sad moments were very well disguised ;)
