All my posts prior to when you butted in were directed at Lone Ranger and his views.my post refereed to the amount of information LR gaveI stand by my posts being in response to LR
Errr, no. The allegations in question were about Which magazine, not LR's views. You alleged that Which magazine "probably didn't do any research at all". Could you enlighten us as to how that allegation is about LR's views and not about Which magazine? You've a habit at looking at something I've written and twisting it into something else to suit an argument you're creatingIf you keep wanting to change what I've actually written into something
I've never changed or twisted anything you've written. I've always reproduced your quotes verbatim.
There's no twisting required. You alleged that Which magazine "probably haven't done any research at all".
Those were your exact words. It's a totally straightforward sentence, and there is no other possible interpretation that I, or anyone else, can put on it.
You're the only one trying to put different meanings on what you've previously said, because you just can't bring yourself to admit you were wrong. I have now asked you numerous times if you stand by your allegation that Which magazine probably haven't done any research at all, and you have continually failed to answer my question. People are able to see that for themselves.
I think we'll leave it there, as you've discredited yourself completely - it's all in the thread.0 -
Do you think Tim now wishes heartily that he'd never said that about Which? magazine?0

To sum up this entire thread. If you have a complain about tesco, or comet then just call the national press and have your story put in the papers as an advert. expensive but gets to the point.
Did that help?0 -
If you think that the Vent Board mirrors British society you both need to get out more.
It at least mirrors, er, the users of the vent board, which is who is really being accused of exaggeration and fabrication. In any case you've made the mistake of assuming that because I said these boards were evidence of something that i meant they are the only evidence of it, I've been in the real world aswell, those who complain on here, and the type of tedious complaints they make completely mirror the complaints made in the real world. I don't think people should be conned or taken advantage of but i find a significant minority of people who want something, anything to go slightly wrong just so they can get a complaint out of it.
If something that is worth complaining about does go wrong 99 out of 100 times calmly speaking to a member of staff will get it sorted but the simple minds amongst us think the best way to get something done is to shout and scream and make accusations (the number of complaints on the vent forum about something going wrong where the complainer has yet to actually speak to the store about it is ridiculous)
I honestly fear getting out more, i reckon the influence of others in the real world might turn me into a babbling idiot that complains about anything and everything...especially where it's my own fault.Do you think Tim now wishes heartily that he'd never said that about Which? magazine?
He probably does, he's made a mistake but it hardly invalidates his opinion on the issue of unworthy or pointless complaints.Bought, not Brought0 -

Precisely. A tiny number of people, so statistically meaningless.Ii find a significant minority of people who want something, anything to go slightly wrong just so they can get a complaint out of it.
Well, of course there is. No one's disputing that some people are out for what they can get.I honestly fear getting out more, i reckon the influence of others in the real world might turn me into a babbling idiot that complains about anything and everything...especially where it's my own fault.
Agreed. Wouldn't want you to turn into a babbling idiot. He probably does, he's made a mistake but it hardly invalidates his opinion on the issue of unworthy or pointless complaints.
I have not the slightest problem with Tim's opinions. Sometimes I agree with him. Often I don't. However, he has what my old headmistress might have described as 'an attitude problem'.0 -
For the record, the expert who Tim accused of being "biased", "generalizing", and "worth taking with a pinch of salt" is Professor Robert Shaw BA, MA, MSc, PhD, FCIM from Cass Business School at City of London University.
He runs the Value Based Marketing Forum, which researches good practice in marketing accountability and profitability and advises 5 professional institutes - Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising.
He has written ten business books, including Marketing Payback (FT Prentice Hall 2005) and Database Marketing (Wiley 1997).
He has worked as a consultant for the last 20 years, he's assisted over 100 companies and worked with over 1000 directors and senior executives.
He also has a doctorate in nuclear physics.
Yep, a true charlatan if ever I saw one! Honestly, the dross that must fall out of his mouth! :rotfl:
He actually gave that quote to the BBC, not Which, as LR's earlier post appears to be from the BBC News website. So perhaps Tim is now going to tell us the BBC are also biased towards the consumer, and don't do any research, etc., hence the fact they went running to an imbecile like Professor Shaw to get a quote to support their story :rotfl:
Professor Shaw's full quote was:"When retailers give out bad information to consumers it can be either due to a lack of training or because of bad attitudes at the top. In the case of training, these days it's very often the first budget to be cut. In the other circumstance top managers often have a bad attitude to consumers and that then trickles down to the staff."0 -

The expert that no one gave any information on.You alleged that Which magazine "probably didn't do any research at all". Could you enlighten us as to how that allegation is about LR's views and not about Which magazine?
Actually it was the 'market expert' I was getting at. LR gave no information on this 'market expert'. LR's 'quote' was written in a biased way which tarred every retailer with the same brush.
I don't regret mentioning Which? magazine because as I've stated too many times now my reply was towards the information LR gave. If LR gives inaccurate quotes then someone who doesn't know that is perfectly entitled to question it!
Your quote is quiet different Phil. For example the leading word of your quote is 'when' which of course doesn't mean/suggest all. But why is it only now you've shared this information?
By the way Phil, I know people with even more education than that. They're not always right!0 -

Oh, I know. The professor was most likely talking out of his ringpiece.
Tim's always right, folks, cos he used to work in customer service and it says so in his signature, innit!
But the BBC, the Consumers Association and a senior academic at City of London University are all wrong.
I'm glad we've cleared all that up now.0
