None of your beeswax...lol.....I've never heard that before....:rotfl:

Hey, I said it on a forum, so I can hardly complain if people comment on it in any case!

I'm not really sure why he did it - he said he was in the middle of something and just wasn't thinking. Now this is exactly something that Ryan would do, get so engrossed in something that he just can't be broken off, and not notice the feelings of those around him. So maybe I should take it less personally and just put it down to him lurking on the edge of the autism spectrum too. It's hard though.

I don't understand Ryan's school at all - I have been told in confidence that his teacher has said he is sceptical (not sure if he means about Ryan being autistic, or about autism spectrum conditions in general, or about Ryan's behaviour being due to his condition rather than just naughtiness) so that hasn't exactly impressed me.

The problem is that I can't break the confidence of the person who told me, as they may be prevented from helping Ryan (and other children) further, as their job is to be neutral, and it would jeopardise their involvement if they were seen to be 'on our side'.

Seems really silly, but I will play along if it helps in the long term.

Hi hun, I am fine. Glad to see the house/ryan/holiday/debt all coming together. Is natasha getting around better without her plaster cast?

Oh yes!! I forgot to say, she is now walking properly! :j

She started trying to do it as soon as the pot came off, but her leg was very wobbly. But yesterday she walked the full length of the living room (about 4m) without falling over or holding on to anything! :T

Hi Snaggles! What a lot in 3 days! Lovely to hear you're so close to being debt free, thats brill. About the shares - sounds like you've noticed they've gone down around this time of year and then gone up later: you're right! The finance markets have a saying, "sell in May and go away" - everything starts going up again in September/October time - usually, of course, there are always exceptions.

I understand your hurt over what Stu did.... and on the other side, glad you had such a brill time away, thats gorgeous. I know this is off the point, but its actually really cute to think of Ryan sitting on a carpet square - I sympathise with the sensory processing, actually. I don't have Asperger's, but I remember a "rocking" exercise we had to do in gym, and it was agonising cos my hipbones are kind of pointed at the front, I just couldn't do it. And little Natasha is walking! Omigod! You must be so proud...

Hiya KC! I've never heard that expression but I'm really glad I haven't just been imagining it!

Ouch, the rocking thing sounds painful - I can't comment really as my hipbones are well padded  so I've never had that problem! But it is odd that schools enforce things that make kids so uncomfortable, rather than just use their common sense. I'm ready for a bit of a battle though. I just wish I had some way of stopping myself getting upset when I speak to teachers (etc) about Ryan, because I know I would be more effective if I could say things without getting upset.

I can't believe how well Natasha is doing with her walking. She took her first steps at 10.5 months, which I thought was pretty early, but when she fractured her leg, the nurse said 'oh dear, this will really put her back'. But she is just soooo determined! She is really proud of her new skill too, because she giggles as she walks along. :A

I've just transferred £2 from my Lightspeed account to my Paypal account, and am up to £4 in my Pigsback account. Also have £3.60 in Valued Opinions, and have got £12 in Tescos vouchers pinned to my noticeboard! I'm a money making machine!!! :rotfl:

Our central heating has broken down....arrrghhhh!! We can either have hot water and tropical heat, or nice and cool, but no hot water. If it's not something we can fix ourselves, then we are going to have to try to live with it over summer somehow, as we need a new boiler as part of the extension plans, so it seems silly to pay a fortune to get the old one fixed. Once the extension plans come through, we could have a new boiler installed, as we have included it in the extension budget (when I say 'budget', I mean of course 'massive new mortgage'), but can't do anything until we know whether it needs to be in the same position as it is now, or somewhere else.

I think thats down to some sort of diverter valve, do you have thermostatic controls on your radiators? We have had this problem for a couple of years now - just turn all the radiator controls to * (frost guard) in the summer and turn them back on in the winter.

Thanks Lyn, but unfortunately the radiators don't have thermostatic controls. Apparently hubby thinks he can remove 'something' (not quite sure what, but he says my Dad did it when our heating broke down last time) and it will give us hot water but no heating, which will be fine for the time being. As long as we get it sorted before winter, we can cope (I think :o).
