When i had to go through ebays standard protection claim, it took 9 months from start to finish!!
'Ebay fraud' are totally useless at answering emails and keeping you informed!

Hi, I am new here but have enjoyed all the info offered since I have found the site the last few days and thought I would add my tuppence worth in here about this post.
You can not claim back from credit card company for paypal payment, paypal are quite cleaver on this, when you sign up with them you waive your rights by agreeing to there terms and conditions (after all who reads the terms and conditions?), the credit card transaction is between you and paypal only, then paypal pay a seller as a separate transaction even though when you do it seams seamless, you can check this by looking at your paypal account after paying for a item and you will see two transaction against the item, 1 to transfer money to your paypal account and the other to transfer money to seller.
Also if paying for a high value item by paypal make sure the item shows the £500 protection symbol on the item page below the seller ID otherwise you will only get £15 (I think) back if standard purchase protection is shown

Can anyone explain why people blaim ebay so much when things go wrong with a transaction? after all ebay are just a host for these adds in the same way the local classifieds are, if someone is ripped off through say buying a car in autotrader or whatever they blaim the seller and wouldn't dream of trying to get there money back from the magazine, if they are ripped of by a seller on ebay they blaim ebay??? At least ebay will look at the fraud and eventually compensate the buyer which is more than the classifieds will do

If you look up items costing 1p you will notice a lot of buyers purchasing useless items for 1p.

And sellers selling them, such as this one....

i,m thinking of buying something from somone with a low feedback( 13). Ive looked into there feedback(not much to look at) and made sure he accepts paypal. was wondering is it worth the risk for something worth around £60/£70, would i recieve any compensation under paypal buyers complaint procedeure ( not paypal protection scheme) and how much will they charge me ( i know ebay will charge £15 if i lodge complaint with them).

Hi if anything goes wromg you will get refunded by paypal,but if sellers paypal account is empty you will lose £15,but paypal say you still may get this £15 back if they can recover from seller,i have claimed through paypal a couple of times and have not yet received my £15 back.

It's ebay claims that charge a £15 admin fee, paypal claims are all or nothing, they don't charge for a chargeback at all.
