    Can i confirm:
You've checked the internet settings are set to automatically detect settings?
If you had to change this, you would need to do the release, renew again.

Your desktop is using a new wireless dongle?
Was there software (possibly ZD) that is now loaded in the bottom right of the screen?

The box to automatically detect settings was already ticked.
Im using a wirless dongle, I used to access the net through a netgear but am now trying to access it through a ZyXEL (the router which the dongle came with).
There is software and I have loaded it and it running in my system tray, I have 80% signal quality/strenght but cannot access the net

Thanks for the help but there really isn't anything under the Wireless LAN to let me add the desktop

this link shows that the router does use MAC filtering as part of the WLAN features...

I'll have a look around for you and see if i can find you a walkthrough... bet you wish you still had a netgear router ;)

Can you rightclick on the icon in the system tray and put windows back in charge of the internet connection?

When you go to start - settings - network connections, can you access the wireless network or does it say other software is using it?

MAC filtering is more of a safety feature... it lets no-one in apart from the MAC addresses you specify, if you turned it on, you'd need to create entries for the desktop, laptop and the PS3..

im a bit fan of netgear.. been using them for years with no issues and great coverage, we use them in work for wireless all the time
without meaning to be a nerd, the quick start guide might help :j

congrats... to set up a simple file sharing network.. right click my computer and add each pc to the same workgroup.. then right click the folder you want to share, go to properties and setup share permissions...

    good luck!

    woohoo

Networking - i'm not having much luck with. Keep getting access denied errors and having to force the connection.

Right click My Computer - properties and make sure your workgroup is the same on all the computers you will be using. Probably best to have the computer names as something that makes sense to you too.
