Moggins,
Does this bike have chunky mountain bike tyres. If so change them. I did and never looked backed, On my slicks as I call them I could do a 5 mile round trip no sweat.
On mountain bike tyres would have been lucky to get to the end of the street without my legs falling off :rotfl:

I cannot understand the view (often spouted on TV and elsewhere) that the supermarkets have killed off the local shops - they havn't. It is the local people who decide to shop at the supermarket rather than the local shop that closes them down. Asda et el cannot control us unless we allow them too, even if they reduced their prices to zero they cannot force us to take what they offer unless we wish to. I find a lot of my friends moan about how the big bully supermarkets have killed off the local shops as if this somehow lets them off the hook because they choose to shop there and not in the village. I have yet to see any supermarket boses with a gun to my friends heads.
I shop at Tesco cos I choose to. They open when they say they will and don't close early. I don't get there to find a back in 10 mins sign stuck up at a moments whim nor do I find half the shelves empty or the staff to busy chatting to serve me. Our local bakers in now also a tanning studio and there is far more baking going on in there now than when it sold bread!:DLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
LOL, it's the whole suspension thing, I'm so wobbily on it that it looks like I've never ridden a bike before. I am going to master it though. I just need some child free time to do itOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things

Math, did I miss something? I haven't heard either of these programmes talking about supermarkets. Or have I skipped something upthread?
Edited to add: sorry, there was indeed discussion upthread. Sorry, I'm getting my threads confused0 -
ManAtHome wrote:Calley, where'd you get the tyres - I'm intending to do the same, seen some in Argos (26x1.90 around £15 a pair), but dunno how 'slicky' they are.
It was a few years ago. I have a feeling I went to proper bike shop to get them.
But you do know that in Argo you can look at the goods before you buy them. Just ask at the till and they will bring them down for you to look at.
I did this when I bought stereo last year as I wanted to see the remote control buttons.

In this week's programme there was the car that was converted to run on chip oil. Anyone any info on this? Did a quick google search but nothing much came up.0

From google:
http://www.dieselveg.com/
http://www.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk/
http://www.vegburner.co.uk/
Why not contact your local friendly garage and ask them if they know anything about it? Even if they don't they might be able to point you in the right direction.0 -

Thanks ashmit, when i did a google search nothing came up ?!?
Last car was LPG and OH was talking about a car running on chip oil when we got the new car. I thought he was joking!
On the surface it sounds like a great money saving idea - but what are the tax implications? Anyone know? If you're basically buying veg oil form a supermarket or filtering the stuff from a local chippy - surely there's some fuel tax issue? Would hate to have customs and excise chasing me up after i'd done 20 000 miles!!0
