    Useage has gone up, but still a B rating need to work on our electric useage
  • oops 53 / 57 and an E - I used 13 units of gas and 29 kWh of electricity. On a positive note I got a lot of washing done and dried so i'm happy.

    Hi guys :) Just popping in to say that i-measure doesn't seem to have the facility to allow you to change to new house & different meter, so I'm waiting to hear from them about how to start adding the new figures.

    Old address was running at around 450 kwh per week and providing a temperature of 10C in the hallway and 13-14C in the occupied rooms. I had given up trying to reach 16C, HOWEVER, the house I am now is maintaining a hallway temperature of 16C throughout with the livingroom easily reaching 20C+ when the door is closed. All of this on 230kwh since last Tuesday morning when Scottish Power sorted out our supply. Better still, we have the Comfort Plus supply on a prepayment meter, so I know exactly how much I'm spending and the unit prices aren't costing any extra. We have 3 rates: 12.88p per unit daytime, 5.84p per unit night time and 5.18p per unit for the storage heaters. There's a standing charge of £1.60 per week but even taking this into account, what I have spent (£22) is well under what it was costing in the old house (£50+) and we have had hot water here every single day. The log fire has certainly been a major benefit, it's just a pity it didn't have a back boiler fot the hot water.

    Not sure how I'll fare in the carbon rating at this house. I added in the very small numbers from old house, as we have it until end of month, but it still said we were an 'E' carbon rating and last but one in the carbon club despite the useage plummeting. Never mind, log burning should help from now until Spring, I just need to get out into the forest regularly :D
    I reserve the right not to spend.
    The less I spend, the more I can afford.

    Thanks SMF :D That was a lovely 'new home welcome'. Tonight, I am sat in a lovely warm room heated by a peat fire, no less! I'm not sure what type of fuel peat is classed as, with regards to the environment, but I rescued 2 free bags of it today that would have, otherwise, been dumped! :eek: I also discovered something really handy. The old kitchen chimney is back to back with the livingroom one but the kitchen no longer has a Rayburn, so the chimney's blocked off, but you can still feel a slight heat radiating through the wall, enough to dry the tea towels in the kitchen overnight :D

    I read my meters and submitted the figures to imeasure on Tuesday, but am only just posting the results here. As some of the folks I see on here are already aware, I lost my DH in the early hours of Tuesday morning, so haven't really felt up to checking the results until today.

    electricity is up on the previous week (by 2.2kWh/day) which I guess will in the main be due to the oxygen machine DH used for 51 hours in the week, and gas is up (by 4.9kWh/day) due to the fact DH was really feeling the cold so the heating was on for longer and at a higher temp (house was averaging 21 degrees from 8am-9pm for 5 days).

    I'm sure a quick glance on Tuesday showed we'd dropped to a 'C' rating, but we're now showing as being back to a 'B' (these are against all gas & electricity houses).

    currently showing as 2/59 carbon club -- yet there were 61 of us last week :confused:

    I'm now going to have to look and see how badly my figures get messed up by dropping a person in the headcount !!!

    ETA: Dropped headcount by one adult, and the above table has stayed the same...... but we're back down to a 'C' rating :confused: Will have to check carefully this next Tuesday as to whether it divides household useage by 2 or 3 people, as I guess that's the only way I'll be able to tell if the change has actually registered through the system !!!

  • hi..
    5/54 MSCC/ C rating... 10th-17th Nov results.. we've not really been cutting back on usage(just using E7 timers/energy bulbs/efficient boiler settings/monitoring etc), when its cold the heating comes on as it is set @18degrees.. so here goes...

    Last week you spent:
    • £8.16 on gas
    • £9.48 on electricity

    Just entered the meter readings to my energy supplier(fixed rate)... and the oct25-Nov21 cost, for gas and leccy total montly bill was £81 (£40 gas £41 leccy) although we do alot of washing/drying(will have to do weekly count) due to 7yr old and wet/cold weather etc ;) i was pleased with the amount.. I was guessing it was going to be closer to £100..
    bonus too.. im in credit £35.. :beer:
    I dont owe nothing, I own everything I have... dont do buy now pay later, dont do credit cards, dont do loans...
  • Guess that was a chilly week, I am on 'E' and 24 / 50 in the carbon club. Time to calculate my bill and get an idea what I am really going to be paying. Need some motivation as I think I am sliding just a little bit.:o The electricity is creeping up a little bit guess it is all the extra heating for the colder water. Target is for 12 units of gas and 28 kwh of electricity.

    You have been taking readings for 17 weeks

    Since you started measuring your total household -
    Energy use is 1,593 kWh (Gas: 1,163kWh | Electricity: 430kWh)
    Carbon emissions are 465 Kg CO2 (Gas: 240 Kg CO2 | Electricity: 225 Kg CO2)

    Last week you spent:

    * £5.43 on gas
    * £3.72 on electricity

    Total you have spent on energy since starting imeasure (17 weeks ago):

    * £40.71 on gas
    * £51.60 on electricity
