The power is probably way below a watt.:)
our radio alarm clock is about 5watts..

i came across this little chart(link below) awhile ago.. gives you a rough idea etc.. i would concentrate on the high energy items that you use, then look at the small items that use 10watts or less..

thanks for that -- still trying to get my head around all these appliance
In the past I will admit that all I've done is start changing to energy efficient bulbs, switching off lights whenever possible, and turning off the "family" TV whenever DH leaves it on standby!!!Cheryl0 -
Just like to say great thread and i have signed up with imeasure they ask if we pay gas by cubic feet or metres, how do i find this out please as i havnt a clue is it a case of ringing BG up...thanks:)0

there may be an indication on your meter (mine has some things printed on it which refer to metres). alternatively check an old bill. the kWh charged will be either closer to 10x units or 30x units. If 10x, then you're metric. If 30x, then you're imperial.Cheryl0

Thanks for that it looks like its metres.0

no need for the small text..... mine may be less than theirs anyway, as it's only a very basic alarm clock (no radio or tea maker or anything else built into it).
have been playing with my radio/cd player today. that is one appliance I only ever plug in when I'm going to use it (for some reason it 'hummmms' when turned on and doing nothing!), but I've discovered that when in use to play a CD -- not yet tried it on radio -- it used very slightly more than my f/view box does just to show the time (and less than the f/view box in use, and I double checked my readings for that appliance yesterday to confirm there is very little difference between the two!). So by turning the f/view off completely I can listen to CDs more or less for free :rotfl:Cheryl0 -
Morning, I've just been and done my regular Sunday readings
Electric 85 units (same as last week) to be expected with both Mr & Miss Twit at home.
Gas 33 units (so lots of Kwhs  ) The heating has been on in an evening this week as it has felt cold brrrrr.
Ususally I look forward to updating the Imeasure site.....but not this week :rolleyes:Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
I was really shocked when I read my electricity meter the day after the annual central heating check by Eon.
Since starting daily readings back in April we have averaged 7-8 units per day in the week and 11-13 at the weekend (everyone at home, most of the washing, ironing and batch cooking done, more use of computer, tv etc).
The Eon man was here about 1/2 hour, the heating was on some of that time, and next day 24 units appeared on the meter :eek::eek:
There was no noticeable difference in the gas, so that is just the pump!!!!! Now I'm terrified to put the heating on!
