Hi, I've just had nosey on the Imeasure site and I see that the bit about the prize draw has gone, so maybe our names are in the hat.
I was most surprised to see that my rank in the MSE carbon club has risen to 9/49 and that I'm now a C.
Looks like we'll need to have houses with more occupants in a few years time.0 -

I've just tried changing my personal details to add an imaginary extra person to our household, and my rating magically jumped up to a B:rotfl:0 -
i dont understand the way the carbon club works. i am 40/49 yet have an A CO2 rating. my weekly gas is 100kwh compared to 300 and elec is 40 compared to 66. (comparison with all households).0

Does anyone know if adding an extra padded jacket to it would help it keep the water hot for longer?
If the insulation still feels warm to the touch or the cupboard is warm I am sure it is worth adding another removable layer. The starting price is around £10. A jacket with a reflective 'tin foil' layer would be more efficient too. they presumably have an efficiency rating too.
I presume it is the yellow stuff thats stuck to the tank if so might be worth checking if that is unbroken etc. I would try posting on the DIY board too.0 -
I've just checked I measure again and I'm now an A rating, must be because we haven't had the heating on yet. Mind you it was very cold last night/this morning so may have to put the heating on soon.0

I think the imeasure numbers are still a bit odd - I've gone from 46th last night to19th today. Not that I'm complaining
I can't believe some of you are still doing without heating - hats off!0 -
I think its to do with what your comparing against. When I compare against
(All users/All housetypes) D MoneySaving Carbon Club 16/49 (Compared against 167 households)
(All users/terrace house) E MoneySaving Carbon Club 44/49 (compared against 45 households
(Same number of occupants/terrace house) E MoneySaving Carbon Club 21/49 (compared against 12 households)
(Households with children/terrace house) E MoneySaving Carbon Club 21/49 (compared against 15 households)
(Gas/electric households/terrace house) E MoneySaving Carbon Club 8/49 (compared against 45 households)
(Gas/electric households/All housetypes) D MoneySaving Carbon Club 46/49 (Compared against 167 households)
My chosen setting is all users/all house types as that way I am compared against everyone else.
What setting does everyone else have for their results?19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0 -

I'm comparing against all users / all housetypes and am currently a D rating. I don't really think there is an entirely fair way of comparing because we all live in different areas (north is usually colder than south), some people are home all day or work from home, others are out Monday to Friday, some have oil or coal to offset electricity for heating, some places there's no option to insulate or install double glazing etc, etc, etc. I'm not overly worried about the carbon club placings as there's nothing on site to explain what the numbers really are comparing. I'm looking at this site as a good way of keeping track of personal spending and what changes can be made to make even the slightest of savings both in costs and in carbon emissions
What has disappointed me is the fact that there appears to be so few people using the site when it's aimed at being a nationwide project. We need more people on here, can we all invite a friend and keep doing so until we find someone who'll sign up to it?I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
