Gas average is up slightly (12.72 per day). Electricity is down on last week - less time at home maybe - to 4.72 per day.

Interestingly the gas consumption, which includes the heating on last Monday when it was cold & damp and I had guests, is the same as it was in my first week of doing iMeasure & weekly readings on BG account back in July. That was before I adjusted my HW settings, so for the same price as hot water then I'm getting about 5 hours heating as well!

Entered readings on imeasure, 94KHW for the week for Gas and 33KWH for the Electric, gone down to a B rating. No heating here yet
  • Can anyone tell me, do any of the cooker 'alternatives' lend themselves to home made pizza? This is our biggest by far use of the cooker since the oven needs to be at its hottest to get the base crispy (I use pizza stones). I do try to use the oven for other stuff at the same time but the answer would really be to find another way to cook....especially since we have HM pizza at least twice a week - it's DH's comfort food!

    PS I'm still an E

Prepare to be shocked - the following readings for i-measure DO NOT include any hot water for a full week other than what's been boiled in the kettle or used in the shower.

You have been taking readings for 12 weeks
Since you started measuring your total household -
Energy use is 1,223 kWh (Gas: 0kWh | Electricity: 1,223kWh)
    Carbon emissions are 640 Kg CO2 (Gas: 0 Kg CO2 | Electricity: 640 Kg CO2)
    Money Spent

How has my energy spend been calculated?
    Last week you spent:
    • £0.00 on gas
    • £28.80 on electricity
Total you have spent on energy since starting imeasure (12 weeks ago):
    • £0.00 on gas
    • £146.76 on electricity
I'm sitting at 22/45 in the carbon club with an E carbon rating and there's virtually nothing I can do about it, as it's been so cold and wet recently. One Godsend has been my bargain DC800 dehumidifier, as it's really making a big difference. I've managed to line dry one day this week but the tumble drier is now redundant and listed for sale in our local post office. :D On the MAJOR PLUS side, this time last year we were averaging 55 units per day as we'd never even considered switching off the hot water, even when it wasn't getting used.
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

we are now using 5.71kwh/day of elec and 14.29 of gas. the week before made a huge difference because the CH came on. i dont think it has last week. there are 4 of us and my DW is at home after being made redundant. so i am happy with the results.

Fiend, your soup probably cooked a lot quicker in the rice cooker than a slow cooker. Mine is 200w so the usage was possibly similar.
Maybe check out car boots and charity shops for a slow cooker ;)

    Hi thanks whatatwit

Yes I noticed the rating was a fair bit higher compared to some on the market. The parsnips were really soft even after 10 mins so I might be able to switch it off sooner and leave on keep warm. I need to do more tests on consumption re the slow cooker so I'll try without meat first. My testing was pretty poor first time round but I estimate the reading was about 0.15kwh but that seems too low. Compared with the cooker it is certainly less than half.

I've a local car boot that I go to each week but none so far. I've just picked up 5 kilos of tatties for 40p so lob scouse is on the menu I think.

Local charity shops don't do any electrical stuff because they can't get an electrician to test them.
