here are my results from imeasure.. only 2weeks into it, but im still learning and making changes to bring energy down..
3 people, 3 bed semi house..
MoneySaving Carbon Club8/31
You have been taking readings for 2 weeks
Since you started measuring your total household -
Energy use is 158 kWh (Gas: 33kWh | Electricity: 125kWh)
Carbon emissions are 72 Kg CO2 (Gas: 7 Kg CO2 | Electricity: 65 Kg CO2)
Money Spent
Last week you spent:- £0.00 on gas
- £7.44 on electricity
- £1.16 on gas
- £15.00 on electricity
so thx to the owl...
although imeasure dont show in the results E7/night use, we have all the biggy leccy items set with timers and our average daily meter readings are 5.1 day/3.7 night.. btw night rate is almost half the price of the day rate...
gas is low cus only use for central heating/cooker hob(leccy fan oven) or the rare 1hour hot water in daytime.. going to replace our old seperate fridge n freezer, so maybe save alittle more with just one appliance insted of two..I dont owe nothing, I own everything I have... dont do buy now pay later, dont do credit cards, dont do loans...0 -

Not sure exactly why although I feel like I've been washing more and I have ended up having to finish stuff off in the TD cos the weather hasn't been great. Also I suspect we watched more TV which does add up since we have a plasma. Gas usage stayed exactly the same at 100KWH. I'm expecting it all to go down next week since DH is away for the week. And then hopefully plummet for almost three weeks while we go off and sun ourselves
Maybe it's the extra lighting as the nights close in?0 -
Hi :hello:
WOW I can't believe how well you are all doing. I will join imeasure when I get a mo - though I suspect we will be very low down the rankings:o.
ELECRICITY
We used 12 Kwph per day of electricity this month (366 kwph per month). Which is still 3 below our average for this time of year - or a 20% reduction.
Since I started the challenge we have averaged 11 kwph or a 27% reduction.
:j:j:j So quite good
GAS
We used 9 kwph per day this month, which is only about 0.5 kwph reduction on this time of year - about 5%. However, at this time of year we use little gas as we are just using it for hot water. So the scope here for a reduction is small.
However, this figure tells me how much we use for heating water. Any addition to this is therefore the cost of the central heating - which is going to be the real challenge.
Since I started the challenge we have averaged 7.5 kwph per day, which is a 21% reduction. So not bad either.
Keep it up everyone:D

PS I still haven't turned on my freezer or additional fridge. I haven't missed them so far. The kids are back to school tomorrow, so this should really help our elecricity use as they seem to be permanently plugged into something.;)0 -

Just checked the August info on my Eon energy tracker and, based on actual readings to 30/8, the LM household are down on both gas & elec on the same time last year. Leccy was up slightly on last month but I'm not sure if that is due to the nights closing in or the school hols
Plan is to keep Sept's near to August's readings, that'll then prove if it was all the use of the playstations & TVs
All the best to everyone with their quests.

Having entered in my figures last night here is my update/breakdown.
Your Results in Detail
You have been taking readings for 3 weeks
Since you started measuring your total household -
Energy use is 390 kWh (Gas: 0kWh | Electricity: 390kWh)
Carbon emissions are 204 Kg CO2 (Gas: 0 Kg CO2 | Electricity: 204 Kg CO2)
Money Spent
How has my energy spend been calculated?
Last week you spent:- £0.00 on gas
- £16.08 on electricity
- £0.00 on gas
- £46.80 on electricity
The results in the tables for 'last month' and 'last quarter' are in terms of the weekly average. The tables give you information about your household (black numbers) in comparison to the average imeasure households you choose to be compared (red numbers).
You chose to compare your household with (Same number of occupants/All housetypes) - to change your comparison go into your user detail settings.
Your results are being compared with the averages of 26 households.

My usage is
Daytime 105 = £11.84
Nighttime 29 = £1.39
So a total by my figures of £13.23
My rating was 4/32.My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).

Interesting...I have been home alone for 2 days now and the permanantly turned on computing equipment is finally off. And our electric use has dropped to 5 kwh per day. Admittedly I've not been watching the big tv much which has helped too. This use also includes the guys who were here sorting out my sash windows (yay by the way) and the various equipment they were using.
On the bright side this means we could hope to get away with 2-3 kwh per day while we're away. On the down side this means that our fridges alone consume this much energysince they're about all that's on at the minute...
Anyway enough guff. Will report back and tell you whether the windows make a big difference in the next few days.
Oh and in other news, our painter has managed to source insulating paint for doing our hall stairs and landing. It will cost an extra £80 he reckons (around £25 per gallon of paint) so I'm hoping we'll reap some rewards this summer. Between insulation, window insulation and wall insulation this moneysaving is costing me a fortune0 -

Must Google 'insulating paint' as I've never even heard of that.Is it like insulation that you paint on? would it be ideal for my frugal house when I eventually buy one?
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
