with your energy reduction attempts:D
This probably isn't an accurate account as we weren't really in the house yesterday but here we go.
Electricity in 25 hours we used 4kwh. I am not really sure if this is good or bad but we used the tv, kettle, toaster, computers and 2 washing loads (it was a nice day so I was able to dry the washing outside and then the clothes airer in the kitchen.
Gas in 25 hours we used 1kwh! I am not really sure where that came from, I am guessing that was heating the water for the shower but I am guessing that is good.
I am keeping a daily reading (when I remember) for the next week as it is going to be quite unrealistic but then I will be doing it weekly. I will keep you all posted on my progress.MFW 2025 No. 7 £700/£1200

Well done, CW, that is BRILLIANT news, especially the electricity! :j
Another week has gone, bringing us another week closer to switching on a heater. It's been quite cold, very wet and very windy here but I'm hoping to keep making small improvements as the year progresses.
Have just read my meter, imeasure results show E and E badges.
Slightly up on last week by 2 units but I have been doing a lot of jam & jelly making plus baking over the past week.
Your household's total energy spend over the last 37 weeks is £681.91.
For week ending 23rd August, 2009 your household spent £11.82 in total.
Electricity A Rate: £9.66 (daytime)
Electricity B Rate: £2.16 (evening & hot water)
Electricity C Rate: £0.00 (heating)
Plus weekly standing charge of £1.61
Actual amount spent on meter was £13.50 so imeasure is only a few pence out, probably because of rounding. This brings my average over the year to £20.04 The magical £20 per week average may yet be achievable. My fingers are crossed for next week.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

I'm on a B and C this week and have dropped to 8th on the list. My consumption hasn't changed though so there are some really frugal or energy efficient 2+ households in the club.
Last year I used the central heating for a bit in the summer sometimes using about to or three units per week. So I'm still chipping away a little bit. I'll try till first of October before putting the central heating on.0 -
Well done CW another DD reduction. That's a big reduction on electricity.
I've no change on energy prices as I am not on an online tariff. If it continues with online tariffs only it might put Ebico in the rare position of reducing standard tariffs first. Well here's hoping anyway.0 -

Maybe they have been away on holiday?0 -
Apart from obviously keeping an eye on our current energy use we are on our way to reducing our energy forever...within two weeks we should have double glazing in our house. We are also hoping to finish our kitchen so flooring will hopeully be down by the end of the month. That just leaves the hall (we have had problems with water leaking in so pulled up the lino but that should be rectified with new doors so we can lay it back down) and our bedroom. I am hoping I can persuade OH to do some decorating at half term. At least byt he end of the year I am hoping to have floor coverings everywhere. The amount we should save in energy we probably don't even need to rein ourselves in this year as we will save so much more than normal anyway.
I wonder, should I still price up the loft insulation...:rolleyes:MFW 2025 No. 7 £700/£1200

With a headcount of 3 I've managed a 'D' against all users and a 'C' against similar houses for last week.
Electricity has shot up from last week - from 75kWh to 82kWh  But elder DS decided to dump all his washing (what he brought home on leave plus everything from 3 weeks) on me as the weather turned - so I've done 4 wash and dry (!) loads for him.....
Gas is also up - from 34kWh to 46kWh, but that's still not as bad as the previous week (57kWh)Cheryl0 -

The week has been interesting, I haven't really done anything different to normal. We have found a great way to save on our gas...the boiler has broken down! So now instead of using 1kwh a day we have used it in 2! Unfortunately this means we are having to boil the kettle for washing up water, I have also tried to keep on top of my cleaning a bit more so I have used the hoover a bit more. We started the week using about 4kwh and now we are closer to 10. I am not sure what this equates to over a longer period of time compared to others but I am sure I will learn as I keep this diary.
I am considering the idea of loft insulation but until we have found out if our boiler can be fixed I don't want to commit any spare money (especially as we are getting our new windows soon).
We can't put any heating on early this year due to no boiler so hopefully we will feel the difference with the windows and be able to put that off until later too. As a certain brand says Every Little Helps!MFW 2025 No. 7 £700/£1200
