ahh I don't have one of those, just a normal 10 year old washer. Jet wash sounds really posh0 -
Don't think my washing machine has a cold wash setting on it either, lowest it has is 30. Hope it's safe but I use either soapnuts or homemade laundry gloop depending on what's being washed.I reserve the right not to spend.

Has anybody considered replacing their Gas LPG or Oil boiler for an Air Source Heat Pump boiler? they are over 300% efficient and the cost of installing are comparable to replacing boiler and oil tank...and upgrading your controls.... no 'tie ins' or contracts... they run on electricity, all the manufacturers are producing them from Mitsubishi, Daikin, Dimplex, Danfoss, Worcester Bosch, etc..try reseaching renewables ASHP in the midlands, I no longer have oil as I have replaced with the Mitsubishi Ecodan system, I have now saved over £740 since it was fitted October 08, I hope this helps those of you worried about the fuel increases this winter, or the governments proposal to introduce a climate levy tax on fossil fuels starting with oil.....then gas.....
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...en-energy.html
start looking now for alternatives.... you can get grants upto £900 for ASHP's from the Low Carbon Building Programme (LCBP) by using the Micro-generation Certification Scheme (MCS) accredited installers and equipment on the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) from the energy Saving Trust. There are three types of people in this world...those that can count ...and those that can't!

Very interesting post, Albyota, thanks for that. Could you give me an idea of how much electricity you have used since having your Ec0dan system installed and what it's heating? I'm currently working out how best to heat my house this winter but am restricted by what the landlords permit and there's no central heating installed. I'd prefer a log burner but can't have one. Foes your Ec0dan system run continually through winter? (ie at a cost of 1kWh every hour around the clock?) Does it need to be connected up to an existing central heating system?I reserve the right not to spend.

Queen-Bee
and
with your endeavours. I use BG and I manage my accounts on line - thereby saving because of a paperless bill discount (it's only a small saving!). The most difficult thing I find about this is remembering the pass words:eek::D
Currently my DD for gas and elect are £42 per month each but every now and then I tend to get a rebate. I have a 4 bedroom home, a hubby and 2 large teenage boys. I also have a BG capped rate - capped in 2005 which lasts until April 2010.
TBH I do find with the gas that a lot depends on the weather...
Best Wishes

Update - I don't think I'm going to do very well on the electtricity front this quarter. We are having a staycation this and have not gone a way for long (we had 4 days in Paris) normally we go away for at least 10 days but other summers we have gone away for as long as 3 weeks. So we are consuming a lot more electricty this year. On top of that my kids are off forever. Their holidays this year amounts to a whopping 7 and a half weeks:eek: I make savings on school dinners (sooooo expensive) but they are at home consuming electricty all day:o.
Anyhoo, on a more positive note it is now a year since I gave up my freezer:D0 -

Great thread. My gas consumption for last year was an eyewatering £682 (for a 3 bed Victorian terraced house :eek::eek:). The previous year, it was even more...
...I use electricity for cooking - the electric bill was another £380 for the year.
Feel comforted, that's much less than I get through with storage heaters.Everything is electric plus an open fire for added warmth in the livingroom. You did really well getting it down from previous years considering the number of price increases there have been. :T
I'm looking at between £1500 & £1700 this year for electricity & coal/logs and I'm only in a small semi-bungalow on a farm.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
