I have just finished my first week and based on my readings, am pleased to report both our gas and electric usage is down :j:j
Electric - this is averaging at 9kWh per day compared to 15kWh this time last week.
Gas - this is averaging 37kWh per day compared to 52kWh this time last week.
On these readings I will not need to increase our dds
Next targets are to reduce the electric to 7kWh / day and gas to 29kWh /day - if I manage this I will start to save money:money:
Thanks again to setmefree and everyone's excellent advice on this thread :T
Thank you!!:o:o That's an excellent start by the way - well done.:T:T:T0 -
well, i'm really puzzled - used a fair bit less this week, and my rating has gone from C to D
and I'm now 34/55 in the carbon club
How has my energy spend been calculated?
Last week you spent:- £12.08 on gas
- £6.12 on electricity
- £329.20 on gas
- £232.08 on electricity

I think the energy efficiency rating is based on average useage - so if everyone has used less (which is looking the case - tomorrow is meter read day for me, so I'll know what I'm like then) then it's quite likely some people will be dropping down the ratings.
I also think that, as people start reducing gas in particular due to it being warmer outside, the ratings are likely to become very region orientatedI've caught the forecast on the TV a couple of times this week (while channel hopping, I normally avoid it completely), and it did look like the cold snaps still around much more regionalised than they have been.
We had a nice day yesterday -- plus I was out and DS doesn't know how to over-ride the system -- so less heating than we often have on a Sunday. And today hasn't been tooooo bad. Had my younger GD here from 11:30am, and forgot about kicking the heating back on (which I normally do when she's here). It was only when she went to put her cardigan back on declaring it was 'cold' that I realised :rolleyes2 But as she'd put that back on I left it another couple of hours to kick in the heating -- basically until we'd collected elder GD from school. So that's 3.5 hours less heating today than I normally use on a Monday.
Just hoping (and praying) my meters reflect this tomorrow
ETA: and Nyk working on her reductions in electricity isn't going to help those of us who were close to average beforeCheryl0 -
Well done everyone.
I'm really pleased this week. It would seem our Electricity usage being higher than average was largely due to Hubby's pc being on all day. I've got him involved and he now switches it off so our usuage was

just entered my readings for this week
gas is down by about a third :T Just checked back, and it's 15 weeks since we were around the this figure (though that was 2kWh lower)
but electricity has crept up a touchall I can think of is that I've been watching a larger TV this past week (moved my laptop out of my 'chill out' room into the living room) and have been watching a few DVDs. Plus, last Thursday was Craft Day on a shopping channel - so the TV (and f/view box) was on almost constantly for 17 hours (which equates to about 4 or 5 normal evening for me) Still, it's only 2kWhs up over the week, so not tooooo bad all things considered
Still a 'C' rating, and showing as 42/55 in the club.Cheryl0 -
Cheryl well done on getting the gas down
Meter reading will be in about two weeks for the SMF2s...:o0 -
Well done to all who have reduced their gas & elec use - some of your readings are amazing and you really are an inspiration
Smf2 - I love your smilies0 -
I have just joined up and put in my set of figures as it stands now so the first couple of weeks will be a bit wrong as I get used to the site but I'll keep updating it every week0

Hope everyone's keeping well.
Well one more day till the end of our second week.
Elec seems to be the same as last week but gas is up . The heating has definitely been on more as it has been a wee bit chilly round these parts. Ah well we'll see what tomorrows readings bring.
Take care all.0
