Hi there,
According to a slow cooker cookbook, you can steam puddings. Instructions are.
"quote:
Place and upturned sauce in the bottom of the slowcooker to lift the puddin off the base of the slowcooker.
cover the pudding with greasproof paper and foil and tie with string. Lower into the slow cooker, then pour enough water around the bowl to come halfway up the sides. Cover with the lid and cook on high for 4-5 hours of until well risen .
The timing above is for a normal sponge mix, so I would think at least 12 hours for a christmas pudding.0 -
You are a star....mine is a large 2 1/2 pint pudding.... So 12 hours on high???0

One of my books says 13 hours for a 2 pint pudding. It's an old book so I'd be inclined to think more like 10-12 for yours if you have one of these modern new fangled thingsHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. The 13 hours... was that on high???... mine has low, med and high settings...it may be thrown through the window at any minute... can not tie the string thing on my own....0

tie the string starting by lying it on the top, cross it over underneath, up and over then tie it. Like a parcel. Use a laggy band to go around the top. Your postman if he's worth his salt should deposit these on doorsteps and pavements. I believe postmen do this all year round!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
