Hi FMN! Just caught up with your thread. Glad things are feeling positive - I know what you mean and I am not sure why either - but it is definitely a GOOD thing!

Best of luck with your book - everything crossed for you!

I was wondering if you've had any news? Early days yet, probably.

  • Oh... I'm ashamed to say that I'm still working on trying to get my first three chapters perfect and haven't sent it off yet to ANYONE. I can't believe it's taking me so long, but I want to make my chances the best possible this time, writing an "arresting" cover letter and synopsis too. That's why I hadn't updated, sorry - no news. How are you Miggy?

    I'm good, thanks!
I wasn't trying to hassle you, just wondering how it was going :). Getting an arresting covering letter and first chapters is a good way to spend your time, I think. After all, you have to get them interested and actually reading, don't you?! And I know I would be the same.
I suspect one can 'polish' a MS forever, though, so don't fall into that trap!
    Thanks for the update.

  • I know you weren't Miggy! I'm glad things are going well for you. Thanks for asking about the book at all. You're right, I know I'm in danger of overworking it, and at some point I'll have to say "enough"! You can see I still haven't sent it off... have been doing am dram panto, and fundraising for a little race I'm doing in April, and forgetting what should be my financial focus. Trouble with these DMPs is it takes the urgency away, which is wrong I know, but life seems to intrude. I am due to ring the CCCS before Friday for a review, and I'll have to tell them there's no change to our situation, which is a bit depressing. I need to send the book out - scale back my volunteering and fundraising, then FIND A JOB!

  • Thank you lucielle, it went really well. I thought it was going to be a case of "sorry, no change," but they had me go through everything in our budget - essentially no change to the amount we're paying each month to creditors, but it's re-sharpened my mind on how we spend andthinking about ways to cut back (check utilities/insurance quotes etc). Did my first shift voluntary role at the weekend which has made me feel like a useful human being again, and I have finished my new synopsis, so book all ready to send out this week. Just have to google a few more agents' details, check paper/ink supply, get printing and then sending! How are things with you?
