Try googling them to get an idea of value, or check them out on ebay before you list.

  • Thanks Lucielle, I can't find anything similar online so I wondered whether to got to a local antiques centre to get an idea. They may be priceless treasures for all I know! Here's hoping...

I've sent my manuscript to agent friend of friend this week and meeting her for a drink tomorrow. I'm quite nervous because I don't know how commercial it is or even if it's any good, and that's all they're interested in ultimately.

    Hi

Be careful of local antiques centre. Have a look for your local auction house and take them in to find out if they would sell via them.

I got one in to look at stuff at my mother's - some stuff she valued was worth nothing and other bits that we had barely considered were worth a few quid.

figurative stuff does better than functional china.

    Hi FMN

Great news on finishing the book. Good luck with finding a publisher.

  • Hi Verbatim, thanks. Have a job interview on Wednesday and a couple of things to follow up with agencies, but I will really kick off again searching when the children are back at school nect week.

Thank you RAS, sounds like you know your stuff. These figures are quite pretty if you like that sort of thing. Some I presume are jade (well they're heavy and green!) and other are some other sort of heavy material, with black highlights...sorry, I have no idea what I'm talking about. The faces are very detailed in the carving. I'll google local auction houses and see what they think.

Another piece of good news is that our tax credits have been restored. £84/month extra and a £370 odd backdate, which is lovely.

    Hi Forgetmenot,

I caught your thread just as I was winding up for the night - 2 hours later I have got to the end and I have to post before I go to sleep.

I know a lot of people have said this to you but I wanted to add "you are a real inspiration".

I know you said that you would go back and re-read your posts - have you had the chance?

If you did you'll see how far you have come. I remember facing a mountain that I had to climb - I was tired, exhausted and frightened that I would not even make it to the top of the first hill. I put my head down and focused on the steps - I reached little milestones and was able to look back. Getting to the top will be great, but don't forget the journey - it holds just as much achievement - sometimes even more than the overall goal.

Keep posting and sharing. You'll get there.

    Love

  • Thank you Verbatim, lucielle Fidget and urg, I really needed that boost this morning. My interview's at 11.30 and I'm getting ready now.

urg123 - thank you! No, I haven't re-read my posts yet but I think it would be good. When I think about it I realise how far we've come but would love everything to be settled. Guess I'm trying to run before I can walk!

Now, where did I put my smart interview clothes??!
