My JML came with an instruction leaflet with FOUR recipes. Not very informative atall, considering all the hype in the advert on tv. If you have Sky, from about 642 onwards they have all the shopping channels and the JML is often featured.
Our experience is that it is better combined with the microwave and say jacket potatoes cooked in that first and then browned in the JML, otherwise the outside seems to be cooked and the inside still hard. I have to confess I have not really done a lot of experimentation with it yet. Very handy though compared to other gadgets I have fallen for!:)Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Hi all!
Sorry if this should be attached to a thread somewhere but I wasn't sure where to post it.
I wanted some advice - I am a bit of a catalogue junkie (you know, the ones with all the gadgets and gifts in that you never realised you needed!!:rotfl: ) and in one of them I found this Halogen Oven:

and the optional accessories click HERE
It seems really good, but I wondered if anyone else had owned one or has one and could tell me if it's any good? I know I could just order and send back if it isn't but that seems a lot of faff when I have the resources of this amazing comm to fall back on.
I know the Remoska is the 'oven' of choice for a lot of OS's but that is a bit beyond me right now.
Any advice or opinions gratefully received!

I don't have one (or a remoska but that is on my Christmas list) but I see that there is no reference to how much enery this uses. I would be wary as I think (going by my ktichen lights!) Halogen bulbs are expensive to run and replace.
Save up for a Remoska maybe?0 -
Hi Diva,
I've been reading up on these and agree with peb, I think, for me, it would be worth saving for a remoska.
There's some recommendations and advice on halogen ovens on this thread that may help:

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the replies together.

Thanks guys, I did wonder when it said 'uses half the energy of a normal oven'... seemed a bit vague to me, and sorry I didn't see that other thread Pink, many thanks for the link!

Hi Diva
I have the JML halogen oven and I have to say my leccy bill has halved since I bought it. I think it is fantastic and so quick. The downside is that it has no real recipe book with it, so I tend to use it for heating ready meals, pasta bake, j. potatos (after microwaving) to brown them up. Someone on here was baking in theirs I think.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

I used my sil's for a short time when my old cooker died and before we got a new one. I used mine mainly for things like chops, chicken breasts with potatoes. No problems with how it cooked anything but with no instructions I wasn't sure how long things like shephereds pie would take, so never made anything like that. My hob still worked on my oven so I used that for other items.0

I love my halogen oven - got it from JML but looks just the same as yours. Cooks quickly - much quicker than an oven. I use it virtually every day and wouldn't be without it (and my pressure cooker!). Food tastes much better - doesn't dry out as much (make sure you don't leave the food in there too long!).
Hope this helps0 -
My partner and I were flicking through the shopping channels this morning and one was selling a JML Halogen Oven. I have to say I'm tempted to look around for one.
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience of using one, if they are any good and if they save money.
Many Thanks

There are loads of reviews about them in this thread: -

I'd also consider a combi microwave - I love ours as you can save time and electricity by using the oven and microwave at the same time so things like jacket potatoes have lovely crispy skins but only take 15 minutes!0
