Re. Lloyds Bank Insurance "Services" - Buildings & Contents

re Lloyds Buildings / Contents insurance . . . LTSB offered £50 cash back via one of the scamming oh sorry I meant comparison sites.
£50 cash back in fact due back in to my current account by 14th September.

It is now today 2nd October and LTSB insurance have still not paid the £50.
Pretty sick corporate malaise but that's only IMHO. Ha, so what?!!
Why should I have to chase them?!!!! Especially when so (intentionally) difficult to get hold of and so time consuming.
The manner in which these shysters conduct business is utterly nauseating. Yes, this refers to Lloyds Insurance Services; their dodgy dealings.

Anyone else experienced similar? Halifax Insurance (same group?) convey similar shoddy behaviour.
    Class action, anyone?

    Zero tolerance for silly corporate marketing games . . . . .

    Letter sent today as follows:

    "Lloyds Bank plc
    Registered Office
    25 Gresham Street
    London EC2V 7HN

    Dear Sirs

re Lloyds Insurance - Court Protocol Letter.

These people are impossible to contact in any sensible normal way.
I am owed £50 cash back; and quite sick of the whole shoddy marketing process.

No more patience left for silly corporate games.
I would like a written explanation from LTSB Insurance. And my £50 immediately.

Just tried to use MSMONEY, keep getting message it is Invalid ?.

" Quote -If you can't get cashback, it's worth noting a few companies have special deals not mentioned by comparison services. These currently include:

Legal&GeneralMSE Blagged: Until 3 Nov 2013, new Legal & General* customers who purchase a combined buildings and contents policy, and enter the code MSMONEY (M&S vouchers) or DEBMONEY (Debenhams vouchers) when applying for a quote, to receive £70 of either vouchers.

We're NOT saying it's cheapest but always use the comparison system to check. If it's within £70, and you'll use the vouchers, it's a winner.- "

Contents only - renewal quote was £75; checked with Direct Line as MSE is doing a £30 M&S voucher offer at moment - DL's quote was £42 (the cheapest I've got anywhere) so, with the voucher, this year's insurance will cost me the grand total of £12. :money:
Back after a very long break!
  • I also tried unsuccessfully to use the code MSMONEY to get £70 off Legal & General home insurance. Invalid promotional code. Typical, can't even phone for quote as they are not open on Sunday and it is only valid till today.
  • Having used comparison sites for a long while, our circumstances changed (need to leave property empty for a while), and checking most of those policies offered on comparison sites, either the term of absence was too short or the premium was risible. Having spent (yes I KNOW) cash :money: on a premium line to check a futile policy and a fair amount of time online trying to find suitable policy, we (I) decided that a broker would be better in this particular case. Job done, good price, personal service. Counting up the hourly rate for the time spent, plus the cost of calls, maybe we should have gone to a broker first.
Maybe worth a think next time?
  • Ad my two cents worth, I recently had to obtain household insurance once again. Buildings cover was easy to arrange and always has been, managed to get it for £142 with a £70 cashback deal.

However, contents has always proved tricky (hence why the two are split). The issue with the contents is that I have a couple of items that need to be insured on most occasions as specified items. This in turn puts the premium up considerably.

This is mainly where I thought I would share my experience if it would help anyone. Firstly, if you are a Legal and General shareholder you can obtain 25% discount automatically from your online quote. You just need to find the shareholder discount code (quick search will reveal that :))

Moreover, BISL operate on a number of different branded sites, all are mostly the same policy from what I can see, the main difference is branding, premium cost and the odd thing that you might get free with one brand to try and differentiate itself against the other.

The ones I am aware of are Santander, Budget, and Bradford and Bingley that I could find (this is for home only).

This is where it became interesting, after doing quotes on all three I noticed a weird way the system worked (if it was a glitch or something). If you select the standard insurance as you go along. Then once you have done your quote at the end go back amend and add the specified items it doesn't rise as much as if you specified them at the start when you initially made the quote.

Furthermore if you then up the insurance cover for the contents from the standard, which in this instance was £40k, to the max of the policy which in this instance was £75 it does not change the quote but reduced by £70 (don't ask - mind boggles).

Next, I changed the single item limits from £1k to £5k and it didn't change the premium, and also changed the amount of high value items to the max £36,500 and it lowered the premium again by £2.

Why these things occurred I do not know. Hopefully it may help someone else.

    So in the end

B&C Insurance with PaymentShield - just had renewal notice and premium up threefold from £206 to £600+!! Went to NFU, who wanted £1600, then to Swinton who couldn't get anyone to insure us. And why? Because the flood risk maps (MapFlow) used by the industry have been redrawn and we are now classed as high risk. This despite the fact that no-one who has lived in the village for 60+ years can recall the property ever being flooded. The maps are very crude.

Am now insured via John Lewis at just under £300 and a joy to deal with. Hope this helps others similarly caught.
  • Hi there, I wonder if anyone can help me. I'm actually a bit embarrassed by how naive i have been with this but here goes. It has just been brought to my attention how much i have been paying on my buildings & contents insurance for the past few years. Basically since i bought my house 13 years ago. I was naive and paid what they told me. I moved from Halifax to Nat West about 6 years ago as they said they were saving me money. To give you an idea, i live in a terraced house in a normal area and my quote for this year was £872. I decided to check the comparison sites and the first 15 that came up were all under £200 for basically the same cover. Nat West did cover more, but nowhere £600's worth more. I obviously rang Nat West and didnt re-new this year and sent off a letter of complaint... even tho i do realise it was my own naivety. My question is, would i be entitled to any kind of refund from them and if so how would i go about it? Or do i just cut my losses. I now am with E-sure for £134 for the whole year and cant believe how much money i have wasted over the years :( Thanks in advance for any help or advice anyone can give me.

I would advise that you cancel the autorenew on your present policy and next year, use Quidco or similar
Sorry - but the "overpayment" that you have made - swelling the coffers of Nat West is not recoverable - it is down to naivety and that is something that these banks lap up !!
Just write it off as an expensive mistake.
