hi guys i just noticed this thread had had new posts so i thought i would give a little update! we went on holiday and after paying for our pushchair ryanair never asked to see my documnets etc they gave me when i booked on the pushchair so i dont think they cared whether i had or hadnt paid!!!grrrr!
although i wouldn't say it would be the same in every case as ryanair seem to be very inconsistant! we were over weight on luggage but our man never charged us or mentioned it, but the other half of our party were told they needed to split the weight between them (although ryanair website say you cant do that!by their lady!!! but the people in front of them (4 young girls) were also over weight and were told to pay excess bagage and the women wouldnt let them split it betwwen them!!crazy!!0 -
oh and by the way i just wanted to add....
I WILL NEVER FLY WITH RYANAIR AGAIN WITH A CHILD!!!!
what a peking ducking shambles the flight was! as i said in my first post we flew with my dd who is 3 and it was terrible. We got to the airport 3+ hours before takeoff stood for nearly 2 hours in checking queue as ryanair only had 2 desks open for 2 maybe 3 moring flights!finally got through to the sercurity which we then stood for at least 45 minutes as they had every early morning flight trying to get through!had a scrap with sercurity as dd refused to take off her coat and some man practicaly wressled my 3 yr old to the floor insisting she had to take it off ( because my baby often hides whatever in her very tiny summer coat/shrug!) by this time we then had to run to gate , got on the plane to find that there was no 2 seats together. jumped up little flight attendant insisted that i sit seperatly to my 3 yr old for 4 hour flight!and would do nothing to help ie ask someone to move!!luckily some lovely couple moved so i could sit with dd!
so agggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! absolute nightmare and will never ever fly with them again with children as it was horrendous!!lovely holiday thou!and easyjet were fab on return journey!!rant over!!!0 -
Im sure theres some rule that its unsafe to split a parent from a child - in the event of an accident the parent will be going against the crowds to get the child to safety.illegitimi non carborundum0

disgraceful. absolutely disgraceful. you should follow this up. only a first class idiot would suggest a child sit alone on a plane. personally I would have started asking people to move and ignore the flight attendant - complete waste of space.Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0

Thats the one.....Family Groups
CAA guidelines ask airlines to develop procedures for the seat allocation of family groups, particularly when a group includes children. It is probable that family group members would seek each other out should an emergency evacuation be required, an action that could adversely affect the passenger flow rates towards emergency exits and might seriously affect the outcome of an evacuation.
Additionally, children and infants should be seated where they can be adequately supervised by an accompanying adult in the event of turbulence or a decompression in the cabin.
Airlines procedures should take into account the following factors:
Children, accompanied by adults, should ideally be seated in the same seat row as the adult. In wide-bodied aircraft, children and accompanying adults should not be separated by more than one aisle. Where this is not possible, children should be separated by no more than one seat row from accompanying adults.
Seat allocation procedures for family groups and suitable seating arrangements for large parties of children should reflect the above criteria.
Whenever small numbers of infants and children are travelling together, the airline should make every effort to ensure that they are allocated seats where they can be readily supervised by the responsible accompanying adult in both normal and abnormal conditions.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
thanks all. well i did think that at the time, didnt know there was regs for it thou! i did write and complain to them but i have heard nothing, but i guess thats no suprise! if they treated me that poorly on the flight i doubt they are the type of company that will reply to my letter of complaint!maybe i should write to them again starting with thank you for ignoring my previous letter.....!!;)0

its a pity pinkladez you didnt think about the security rules at the time as well, that would have saved some aggro that was bought on by yourself
i wonder how much of the rest of the story was your fault, 3 hours early at the airport, 2 hours in a queue, ran to the plane and yet the rest of the flight beat you to the plane
and the cabin crew insisted you sit apart from your daughter
yeah right, exaggerating a bit are we?0
