Hmmmm may be worth popping to see one of the advisers in Jobcentre Plus, I know when I was looking to go to college they seem to have various means to assist with things (especially when it may mean you getting a job later!) and also have a list of various contacts that may help.
I like the 'if you don't ask you don't get' mentality and I try to adopt it as much as possible I just fail at the gift of the gab as my nan would have said back in the day
Which college are you going to? I know some that say things such as "For some courses you will need to buy professional equipment (e.g. Catering knives, Hairdressing, Beauty or Manicure kits, Aromatherapy oils). You will need to purchase these yourselves before you start your course. You can apply for financial assistance to help meet these costs." so there may be some options there now you have finished work that may not have been there when you were employed0 -
Hi all, you have all been very chatty today! Just go in and caught up with the posts.
Just opened my post and it seems that AA Visa have not charged any interest this month :j Horray!!!
Also, they have said estimated intersted for next month £0.00 :j Double Horray !!
However, due to the interest added over the last few month, I am over the limit and have been charge £12 over limit fee  !!
Is the norm?? Can it be claimed back?
Also, does this mean they have accpeted the DMP as I have not heard anything from them?DMP Mutal Support thread No 193
DMP with Payplan First Contact May 08 DMP commenced July 080 -
The main problem is that until tomorrow I'm still officially employed, so I can't finish filling out any forms and send them off until tomorrow. I was relying on my final salary to pay for a lot of this stuff but I only get SSP, twelve days worth, which might buy me a Big Mac.....Damn, I'm on a diet!!!!!:rotfl:LBM:FEB 2008

don't know where to start...
well i have 24k debt and am currently on my way to doing a dmp with cccs :j (£222 Per month). but im there are a few things i need advice on...
1)when completing my Dmp it requested that i cant be in arrears with certain things e.g. rent. Now i pay child support which was reduced to £5 pounds from £135 when i was signing on - have since found a new job and was told that it would increase and that they would sort it out. So as my current wage is slightly less than my old job i put in a ruff figure (£120) as to what they will take. But after 3 months of calls they still havent sorted it out. Am i right for putting a ruff figure or should i wait till its sorted?
2)i have a car which im looking to sell and buy a cheaper runaround which if goes to plan will give me an extra £1000. i was thinking as using this as a buffer and leaving it in a savings account for any unexpected expense as i have no savings -good idea? or should i forward some of it to cccs when my Dmp is up and running?
3)does your interest get frozen using a Dmp at my debt range or will i have to pay more after the 6 year period noted by cccs to complete dmp? they gave me the option of both a dmp and iva
any advice is muchly appreciated
Thanks Jvic for the detailed advice much appreciated.
thought i'd update on situation -
Car not sold yet as had a car accident with an uninsured driver (boot wont open plus bumper damage). Apparently Esure told me there is nothing they can do and that i should get a quote and get them to pay (cash in hand) and get job done -is that what usually happens? anyway
CCCS confirmation that DMP begining in :T August, so just paid my 222 using trans slip.
Had trouble with bank account as i opened basic account just after sending my initial DMP letter to creditors:huh: yep i was cutting it a bit. had no new account details to give to work place and so my wages went into my main account at which point they took the overdraft away(expected) and tried to tell me i couldnt get my money:mad:
Of course i went into berserk mode and though it was my fault ( timing could have been better) literally told them i want my wages otherwise i will be at their premises with child in hand demanding food, shelter, and bus fare money so i can still get to work.
luckily the advisor was very nice and told me to withdraw my wage minus the dmp payment expected (£27) and case closed.
CSA have confirmed that they will be taking roughly the same amount from my wages £30 pw so need to further budget my budget!!_pale_
Right now im looking to send the postal orders to each company but i got 9 x £1.00 postal orders with no name printed - just 3x's
Do i pay these to my self or do i pay them to the company name? or should i leave them blank as i will accompany them with a template i copied from earlier in this thread

If you have the new Sky + boxes they somehow (no idea how they work) but they switch themselves off. I have sky news on all day and it never switches off but when I used to game late at night in a different end of the room it would switch itself off - very clever!
I never switch it off at the wall but apparently that is energy saving the auto switch off thing and to be honest my utility bills are not that bad considering I cook with electric, use a tumble dryer and dishwasher!0 -
I've wondered that myself about the charges, as HSBC are currently insisting on claiming my S/O (which they refuse to cancel) for my loan from my account then bouncing it and charging me so I have over £75 worth of charges going on each month (which has actually been the reason my account has gone OVER the overdraft limit)
Might be worth giving them a ring as I would think if they have agreed to 0% interest they are defeating the object by charging you ever the limit .. but maybe thats just my common sense not business sense talking
Good luck with filling the forms in tomorrow Rugbymum! Have a nice soak in the bath and tell yourself no use worrying tonight as tomorrow I am going to be able to start the ball rolling :A0 -
infamousdb sorry can't help with regard to the postal orders, I think they are in place of cheques so therefore should have the name of who you would make the cheque payable to.0

hiya all
thought id have a quick look in, hope to be more on later
hi to infamousdb. when i got my postal orders at the postoffice, they asked me who id wanted them to be made payable to, so i told them and they inputted the names on each one, i guess with yours with xxx perhaps they didnt ask who they were to be made payable to ? You could send each one, just that it would mean that anyone could take it and cash it in, so either i would go back to the post office who raised them if you are on friendly terms with them and see if they can advise you more about sending them and the cashing in. Or perhaps in your letter to each creditor you actually refer to the postal order number you are enclosing them, this is your accuarate record of your 1.00 postal order to them being enclosed with your letter,
Hope that makes sence?
see you all laters Ciao MAZSealed Pot Challenge member 1525

Hi All,
Haven't posted an update for a while as there really hasn't been a lot to say.
Well tomorrow is the 6 month anniversary of when I first called Payplan. I have to say my life is completely different to what it was back then.
The first 3 months were the worst, but as everybody says it settles down. Out of 15 creditors, I think 13 have now stopped interest. Barclaycard said they would but then sent another saying they were starting it - They never actually stopped! Lloyds Mastercard are charging a reduced rate.
The only contact I get is a regular call form Citibank, who call every month asking me to pay, I always point out that they've agreed a payment plan with Payplan which they always acknowledge and thank me for my time!
I have to say that although things are tight, it's great to be in control of my budget. I've even trusted myself to cancel the DD for my electric - I was £160 in credit with them and they decided to increase my payments. I now just read the meter myself and pay approximately however much i owe each month - I was 42p out this month when the bill arrived, so that won't break the bank!
Slightly worried that Santander have apparently now completed their takeover of GE Money as my safe account is with Abbey. I still have 2 debts with GE Capital Bank. But Payplan said they would have to notify me of any change of conditions giving them the right to access my bank account and that I only need change banks if I receive these. Think I may switch to be on the safe side though. Shame as my local Abbey branch have been really good.
Welcome to all the newcomers - All i can say is that the support in here is fantastic and without it I know I wouldn't have coped. It's good to know others have experienced what you are goin through. So thanks to everyone who has helped me in the past.
Hope I'm not tempting fate by saying things are going well!LBM : March 2008

Tigert thanks for posting the santander and GE Money debate has been about the boards its nice to hear from the experts!
I am lining up a CO-OP account just in case but I figured they would have to notify us like Chelthenham & Gloucester did last year when they became Lloyds proper.
And pleased to hear it is all going well! *fingers crossed*0
