Well I have taken the plunge. Posted (recorded delivery!) my agreement back to CCCS and the letters of Authority to my Creditors today.

I still know I have a bumpy path ahead as HSBC have been nothing but unhelpful and have already told me on their 4th call of the day that they will have nothing to do with CCCS regardless of my letter of Authority

Is it sad that I am excited about having £35 a week for food & sundries! The last year I have lived off whatever extras my mum could buy in her shopping and just made sure my son had his school dinners so I knew he was getting a good meal during the week! I had been giving everything to my creditors to desperately stay afloat after my redundancy and started to slip into arrears in my 7th month out of work :(

Going to head off to some boards to have a good nose around how other people budget and feed themselves :j

    Hi

Have just been round the National Debtline website. Their calculators tell me the same story and say their suggested shopping spend for a childless couple is just over £300 a month. Considering I have taken in guidelines by CCCS at max £295 (ours I dont really know what it totals to be honest as we live on what we have left week by week, some weeks theres more than others depends on how many DD are going out of bank account) we do often try to stockpile when theres BOGOF offers, after all a couple of days of 'free' meals is good as long as you have the space in the freezer & cupboard, we have a very compact kitchen so 1 food cupboard and an undercounter fridge and freezer!

If hubby doesnt like the meals I plan he will buy his own for that night and he also gets dog food and top up shops for staples like bread and milk. He eats mountains of bread sauce sarnies to fill himself up!

    :o

Hiya, have you posted your SOA on your own thread? We might be able to help you sort it so it's suitable.
Otherwise, you could do a DMP but do it alone?

    Well done!

Big step making the decision and the first couple of months but you have an army of people behind you for the journey!

    Finance wise the same.

Work wise - not good. Hubby went to the meeting, not a lot has come out of it really. We are in a community centre for one night and the other night we have to find somewhere ourselves as we can have that night but after "bingo" which does not finish until 8pm. Really annoys me how lapse local government is with the youth, they tick there own boxes but don't go out their way.

Health wise - on antibiotics for a fat ankle! Bloody expensive perscrptions are these days last time I had one it was £5.25 now its £7.10 the vets would be cheaper!

Thanks again for all that support and hope things are OK with you and your dad and life!

I know what you mean about prescriptions! I'm on sleeping drugs to calm my IBS - weird isn't it.

DMP is okay, just Hellifax being pains so I'm gonna try and get all the charge back, should knock a healthy amount off the balance.

That sounds like a total pain, are they very NEET focused in your area? The LAs seem to favour detached work because it's cheaper
My work is stressful, still have no money from them, so time to leave end of the summer :(

Okay, will have a look at get back to you :)

Righto, found it. You have no income and your hubbie is self employed, correct? Are the debts in your name or both names?

  • Loans and credit card debts are in my name, except 1 that is joint (Lloyds TSB) but I take responsibility in paying it

Sorry you had to search again but maybe you can see why I didnt want to repost?! :o

    Many thanks

No worries, well you can't put the joint loan into the DMP without it being a joint DMP as far as I know.
Also, hun, your situation is very difficult, I get that...I run a DMP for my dad, he's self employed too and often makes very little.
Basically neither CCCS or Payplan will help you because you don't have any income to pay your debts. Incap benefit can't be counted to pay debts. You need to do token payments until things change. I think you said in another post this could be fairly soon anyway? So write a letter, we can help, saying sorry but your on IB and can only afford token payments of £1 for now
