A big hello to you all  welcome back Rayday, glad the job going well
Chatterbox - try CCCS website and go through their questionnaire to see if a DMP is right for you. It is completely confidential and it only asks for figures, no need for names or account numbers just yet. All you do is type all your income and outgoings and at the end of about 7 pages of questionnaires the websire will give you a remedy for your debt and more information to contact CCCS if needs be.
An IVA only lasts for 5 years and you have to have some kind of equity to be released in the fourth year (from a house), bankruptcy lasts a year BUT it is more complicated than what people realise. I am on a DMP lasting until the year never never at this rate (ok slight exageration but year 2023!! based on current circumstances) I would jump at the chance to be debt free quicker than that but a DMP is better suited for me as I have no assets. Please try the CCCS website out just to put you at ease if nothing else xx
Lozza - same old same old I'm afraid, we have had to reduce our payments to all our creditors as OH wages gone down for our DMP and just received a letter from MBNA saying the new payment is too low and they could pass it on to a debt collector. Whatever!!:rotfl: I don't care who I am paying they will still get the same amount, usually when you start to make regular payments LESS than the original monthly payments then creditors give in and stop charging interest and charges.
CCCS do the best they can to negotiate with all your creditors but the creditors are within thbeir rights to continue to charge stupid amounts, it really is in their best interest and yours to stop but hey ho you'll never hear of a skint credit card company will you? It's just part of the frustration of being on a DMP I'm afriad but don'[t be put off by their threats, it will all come good in the end xx
Lulaloo - what an effin eejit you had to deal with!!!   How dare he do that, it is against data protection that no one can discuss your situation with anyone apart from you. DO NOT give these people that kind of information as they will ring work every minute of the day, yes it is harrassment and against the law if they continue to hound you by phone after you have written to them to tell them your situation. But unfortunately some people who work for debt collection agancies are noobs! and will do and say anything to panic you into paying more than you can afford. Don't worry you are in good company here xx
To all new Debt busters on here my main advice would be to change your phone number as soon as possible if you can to avoid all the harrassment you get over the phone every minute of the day by these idiots. I know they have a job to do but they will come out with every kind of bull to make you pay up.
anyway chins up (depending on how many you got!!) how many of us are thinking up New Years Resoultions to break on January 2nd?mine will be stop stressing and stop smoking but as I only smoke 3 or 4 a day and don't drink I don't think I could cope without my fags now and again

Hi All,
My DMP started on 1 Dec. I have made my 1st payment to CCCS and they have contacted my creditors.
Having sorted Barclaycard, and their ringing my hubby at work, I felt a bit of relief... then...
I received a phone call from Virginmoney, who I have a c/card with. CCCS has told them that they will get £6 per month from me, but they have told me that this is not enough. I need to top this payment upto £27 p/month or they will start putting charges on the account.
Has anyone had anything similar?
I am going to ring CCCS tonight, but I just wondered if anyone else has had the same.
Lozza - I think that this is standard practice until you can prove that you can meet your commitment on DMP. When they can see that your payments are being made regularly, then they become a little more understanding.
As you have CCCS involved, your creditors will know that you have been through a full budget plan and really can't afford to pay any more. I know it's easy for us to say - but don't worry....as long as you can make your DMP payment (and all your essentials, obviously!!) then it will get better!! xWhy does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Cheers Gemmzie, thats really good news. I will speak to CCCS tonight and see if they can.
By the way, whats a gold piggy?

Ok so Loanstore just rang me (they are a division of ChequeCentre) and i took out a £1000 loan in July 2007 and agreed to pay £94.60 for 24 months.
(i know that sounds ridiculous but I was desperate at the time). There;s currently about £600 left to pay.
The man was really agressive but I stood my ground for most of the call. He kept sayin the minimum payment we will accept from you is £15 a week, I explained to him that wasnt possible and they would hae to wait for the CCCS to contact them.
After going round in circles with him for ages, he said 'OK so if you wont agree to pay this £15 now, i need the name of your manager at work and i will ring them and get an arrestment on your earnings'.
At this point i started to cry because i dont want my employer to be contacted and eventually just had to give him a debit card payment for the £15.
He said I have to ring up every week from now to pay it. Now i feel like I've completely messed up because I know I wasnt supposed to give him any money.
Can they actually ring my employer?
Lula
Hi,
Dont worry about your manager finding out about your cuurent situation. This loser couldn't make your employer pay out of your wages. The only way that money can come directly from your wage is if the company involved get a CCJ against you in court, and only then if you fail to keep up with the repayments of the CCJ.
A court will set the monthly repayment at what you can comfortable afford, and as you are on a budgeted DMP, it will probably be the same as the DMP offer, and possibly less!
This is common practice from the more ruthless creditors, so dont be afraid of them. If they call back again, tell them what your rights are and that you are reporting them for harrassing you. The authorities are really clamping down on this at the moment, so they'll probably panic and hang up!:rotfl:
And remember, DO REPORT THEM. People get into debt for all sorts of reasons, and quite often, not from their own fault. So why should we be hounded like we have done something wrong. We are all in the same boat here, so you know where to turn to for help.

Hi Lulaloo
Dont worry, I have given way to creditors harassing me in the past .I now manage to say no and refer them back to PAYPLAN, but it is not easy especially at the beginning when the phone never seems to stop ringing.
I would try to avoid using a debit card payment over the phone as some people on this site have reported unscrupulous creditors taking extra unauthorised payments from their accounts. I am sure that this will not happen with you as it appears to be extremely rare, but just a thought for the future;)
Things will get better
take care:o0 -
Rayday
fab to see you back:beer:0 -
Thanks for all your replies. I spoke to CCCS about it just after i'd posted and they said the same as all of you - just wish I hadnt given him the payment now
On a more positive note I have spoken to my current line manager and told him of my situation and what happened today. Even though I now know they can't get to my earnings unless I default on a CCJ, my manager said if they ring back and try to threaten me again that i can tell them 'fine ring my employer' and if they actually do, he'll tell them to go stick it where the sun don't shine :T
After such a rubbish day, I felt myself welling up at his noble kindness :rotfl:
I just dont know where they get these people from who are so nasty on the phone. I know they're just trying to do their job but if someone was sobbing down the phone to me, I couldnt be so harsh. I must just be soft
Oh well, we'll see what happens next week

So glad you feel better Lulaloo :j you'll often feel like that dealing with your debt, it's one of those things one day you'll feel on top of the world ready to fight anyone and the next you feel so stupid and useless for getting yourself in this position in the first place.
I've lost count of the times we have had the 'where did it go all wrong chat' but stick around, this site and the people on here are amazing. I joined up only a few months ago but have learnt so much since, knowledge is power as they say.
One thing to remember is it isn't a crime to be in debt, we are not bad people just really bad with money! :rotfl:
I love those people at CCCS, how they cope with all us lot phoning them every day asking question after question I'll never know and they never sound judgemental, they are on your side. I just wish they worked for the creditors, they are that nice they'd let us all off with the debt! :rotfl:
good luck xxxDMP support thread member 211 :cool:I'm only here to get some medals......honest!0 -
Can I just say, in further support of our friends at CCCS, when they send you your appointment to review your DMP, please make sure that you're in - or if it's not convenient, let them know so that they can help someone else and help you again at a later date.
When I had my review in October, the advisor there (Judy) told me that it was nice that someone was expecting her call and was ready with all the details (wage slips/bills etc) as so many people miss the appointment.
I know that sometimes the situation is out of our control, and we can't get home when we need to - but in the majority of cases, I'm sure we can all spend 20 minutes reviewing our plans to make sure that they are still effective for us. (remember that your DMP payments can go down as well as up!)
