    Hi everyone.

I am new to this thread and I have a couple (ok 3) questions.

1- was on a dmp years ago which finished a couple of years ago and now both myself and DH have debts. Do you think I can still go on a DMP with CCCS as they were really good last time (p.s I know I have been stupid for doing this again).
    2. Can someone give me a DMP thread number
    3. Since my last statements we have had to buy some things for the house (OH was made rdundant) so should I send in the statements now or wait until I get new statements before trying to set up the DMP..

    Any help appreciated

Just wanted to check in an give a quick update on my dmp with CCCS because it might be of use to someone.

I've recently started working part time and according to the Tax Credits people I am going to be a lot better off for it! I contacted CCCS to arrange a review (happening Tuesday night) and I also queried my First Direct payment. Originally I owed on a Credit Card and an overdraft (both £500) and they had kept them seperate so they received a payment to each debt. First Direct then amalgamated the debt into one and therefore CCCS now give them a lesser payment based on the combined contractual payment. Obviously First Direct aren't happy with this but as CCCS told me, they are fully aware of how the system works and it's their own fault. I do feel a bit guilty because they have been good to me from day one but I'm hardening up a bit now!

I have about 5 small debts (all under £200) and I asked about paying these off myself and the lady at CCCS told me to go ahead which is contrary to what others have said but I was told I can justify to the creditors by saying that we cut back to the bare essentials for a month to pay a small creditor off so a larger one could get more money a month. Sounds straightforward so I paid my Choice catalogue off tonight (£50.14!) and god, do I feel better for it! I feel like I have taken a huge leap forward even though it's a tiny thing.

I've had to tweak my dmp budget a little because of the price of food, energy and petrol going up and I was getting resentful that we were so skint sometimes because of unavoidable things happening like MOT time etc so even though I'm working we are for the time being only paying an extra £72 on our dmp. Nevertheless our deft free date will happen 6 years sooner because of it so I'm happy for now!

Had a surprising nice letter this week from MBNA. They have restructured my Credit Card to remove the arrears and have updated the Credit Reference Files to show that arrears have been cleared and that the account is up to date and being maintained on reduced payments. This seems to have been a reaction to receiving my first payment direct from CCCS. They had already switched it to 0% interest and cancelled all the charges.

If only HSBC would be as supportive, they still refuse to accept the payments, refuse to default the account, refuse to cancel my loan S/O so it keeps bouncing and incurring charges and insist that I contact them directly to arrange a suitable payment etc I am presently on my 3rd level complaint, this last one quoting the Unfair Practices as per OFT about them trying to bypass an appointed 3rd party and again expressing that CCCS offer is all that I have to give and please can they follow their correct collection proceedures and refer me to a DCA!. I know its not going to get me anywhere but I just feel like being a little pedantic especially considering the amount of inconsistancies in their letters  but thats another story I wont bore you all with.

I am at the stage now where I dont want to be 'fair' to HSBC, wish I could give the amount I am paying them each month to MBNA for them being nice to me :rotfl:
  • Ta Simbalou...Mine starts next month, but when I asked to do the same thing with the smaller debts cccs said NO..boohoo, she told me to lump them all in...My slight argument to this is that because their monthly dmp payment is going to be the same if not more in some instances, they aint gonna reduce the interest I pay( surely the whole point) but I went with the advice anyway. So we shall see, tbh the o/d is worrying me the most, cos I just don't see how it's going to work on a dmp?

Thanks TotallyBrassic it did feel good to get the fisrst positive letter. Its the only one so far, but I had to talk to my (old) bank last night about something else and the woman confirmed the'd accepted the DMP for my overdraft.
I sent my token payments in Aug so I think its the contact that the cccs have made to my creditors that they're actually responding to rather than any direct contact from me, but who knows how they actually do work is beyond me.
The best thing for me at the moment is no-one phoning me constantly from 8 in the morning onwards, i actually answer the phone now without worrying who's going to be on the other end!
good luck with family allowance hope you get it before they do!

Maybe it's because my dmp is up and running and everyone on it has agreed to it one way or another? I'm not sure but I reckon that if any of them try and take me to court etc the judge would rule in my favour as I am trying to pay my debts off quicker (hopefully!)

I've stopped worrying about money anymore since I've settled in with the dmp, they cant have what I haven't got and they ought to be grateful I didn't go bankrupt and they'd have got nothing.

Off subject now but I've just been to Morrisons and had to tell someone that they have turkeys in stock for Christmas in their freezer dept. Nothing wrong with that you might say! But............the starting price for a regular frozen turkey was £29.99!!!!! A big Bernard Matthews one was £49.99. It's either a scare tactic to make people think there is a shortage and buy early or a complete scam! Think we may be eating chicken for Christmas dinner in our house!:D

Katie- you can only ask. I'm sure cccs will be able to help you again. If not there's always payplan too, or contact citizen's advice they can help too. :)
  • Hi ya all you DMP people. Ive asked on my other thread but no one seems to be sure. Are any of you DMP'ers self employed. I have a phone call appt soon with CCCS to hopefully set up a DMP but was concerned they may not let us as self employed.

And the form they send prior i received today and its asking all his self employed costs ie gas, electric, transport, staffing etc but he doesnt really have them cos hes a sub-contractor to the same company. So just going to get the yearly and monthly income ready and the things he does pay like mobile, account. Is this right as well.

    Thanks for your help.
