  • I rang them and they said they will get a councellor to ring me in two weeks!! lol! the assistant was shocked to hear they wanted as much money as they did. just wondering with a dmp do they set realistic amounts to repay? I know it sounds silly but i'd still like to have money left at the end of the month as my daughter is one and growing very fast! So id still need money for her not to mention her birthday and the dreaded xmas, i just dont want to be left short? but i suppose it cant get any worse at the minute!!
  • You can do the CCCS debt remedy on line, you can play around with the figures and see what allowances it gives you. I found that it automatically gave an allowance for things like prescriptions and dental treatment. I have no use for these so count it as 'spare' just in case money. Also it allows more for housekeeping than I could ever spend.

  • Thanks ill have ago at that! Its not that i dont want to pay them but i still want money to live better than what i am now anyway lol! And also (sorry about the thousand questions!) I need to open a new bank account right? But i have no photo id, so thats going to be a problem isnt it?
  • Zoeysmum, has anyone suggested you posted an SOA (state of affairs) as it really helps for other people to look and see where you can save money? Try calling the National Debtline about new bank accounts etc, they were really helpful with me. I'd say again - beware of any organisation that isn't CCCS or Payplan - CCCS is the one I'm with - they are a charity and only offer you impartial advice.

This is the link for calculating your SOA :

    Hiya Zoeysmum06,

I haven't read all the posts but have you tried doing the cccs dmp online? They tell you there and then if you are accepted and paperwork gets sent straight out. That's how I did it and everything was up and running within 2 weeks and I didn't even speak to anyone.

Don't worry about asking questions, we've all been there and soon it'll be you helping others, I promise x

Shouldn't be a problem, I phoned Co-op and opened a "cashbuilder" account over the phone, no overdraft or cheque book (which is good) all approved there and then, visa electron card and paying in book within 5 days, pin number within a week, no mess no fuss, easy....and you can do internet banking as well, which is a godsend. Have told work the new account details and have transfered all my priority direct debits to the new account without any problems, even transfered some cash from my old currrent account on the day I got paid before it all gets shut down.

1st payment to CCCS on the 1st October, can't wait, touch wood haven't heard anything bad form any creditors yet (just standard your direct debit has been cancelled type letters) though I'm sure it will all come, but with the knowledge and support of all on here I'll get through.

Worringly my DMP states it will take me 14 years 8 months to pay off all my debts , but hopefully that will come down overtime, its better than living how I was.

    Good luck
