Morning all
I have my next scheduled meeting with cccs this afternoon to go back over my I/E and look at the possibility of starting a dmp (on token payment since March - its been a very long and stressful time!). I've managed to increase our income by £130 and as we are still able to stick to our cccs budget ok, I'm hoping they'll allow me to start a dmp with the £130 (I have a fab advisor who knows the ins and outs obviously and am hopeful for a low start dmp with a view to upping payments as soon as).
Wish me luck people! My tummy is in absolute knots believe it or not as we are desperate to get off token payments and into a plan, even though obviously its not going to be very high payments for some companies, its a start.
Any advice for this afternoon?MSE-ing since 20070 -

Hi and thanks again for your reply.
The amounts I am paying my creditors are the lowest they would accept!
I started out offering each one around 20 quid each but they kept pushing me until I got to the amounts I now pay.
It stinks because Lloyds accept £60 per month on a 9K debt whilst Goldfish insisted on £75 for a 5K debt.
Hi,
That's really the wrong way about it. I'm not sure about your situation, but you should not be paying what they will accept, you should be paying what you can afford. If all you can afford is less, then it's tough luck, they'll have to deal with it. I think given half the chance, no creditor would accept what I'm offering.

Good morning all -Ray and Andy thanks for your advice and input regarding self managed and CCCS DMP's. I think I'll just stick with my own self managed DMP for the time being. I don't want to rock the boat with a certain creditor at this stage as I work in the public sector and if I was to get a CCJ this would be viewed as a serious disciplinary matter. Do you think I should mention this to them when I'm having my monthly payments reviewed? Thanks.0
-
No don't mention it! You will give them some power and they will think they have you over a barrel, just carry on as you are if possible because obviously you are doing something right. You could always knock the others down a little I know Lloyds are pretty good they moan like an old granny and grumble but they take what you offer. I can't remember who you are other one is.0

Thanks again Ray -I had a feeling they could use this to their advantage by making more unrealistic demands for payment. Just wanted a second opinion!I'm sure they couldn't care less about peoples own circumstances. I'm due for a review in September so I'll just send them a copy of my SOA as normal and put the mobile on silent.0

Good luck Nikki Sue. I'm sure it will be fine. I pay CCCS £104 per month on a debt of £27K spread between 8 creditors.0

See what the Credit Crunch has done to people, that they resort to camping in freezing cold weather in England! Ok, it's August, but that's the coldest time of the year, isn't it?
Still going through the motions of setting my DMP up through PayPlan. Think first payment is due in Sept (With a finish date of 2029!!!). As everyone says, it's designed to get your life back on track, but I'm still afraid the creditors are going to kick off about it... PayPlan have been very helpful, but I can't help thinking my caseworker is under a heavy workload, and I feel guilty phoning her up!
Just got all the phone calls and letters to look forward to now!DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
I worked out mine will take 17 years at the current rate to pay off, but I know I will be earning more in that time period so that is my maximum. Two years later my mortgage will be paid off too! Although every time I remortgage I knock a couple of years off so hopefully be owing no one anything in 17 years time!
Phone calls that you will get should settle pretty quick once they see you are on a DMP and they will get what is given. If there are too many send the phone harassement letters off.
mouncey - have you sent letters requesting contact by letter only?0
