  • Hello folks. I thought I would pop in and say hello and see how you all are (how is your foot rayday?)

Well, nothing much to report on the creditor front. MBNA are still sending letters demanding more money, asking us to sell our granny to pay them off etc, but apart from that all is quiet (when I have said this in the past, all hell has broken loose!)

I'm preparing all the letters to the creditors this weekend in readiness of leaving Payplan and going it alone. In a rather peverse kind of way, I'm rather looking forward to it.

Anyway, off to write a shopping list (baked beans, er, baked beans and yes, some more beans) PARP!

I jest, it's not all beans. There's a couple of Pot Noodles too!

    ;)

Hi again everyone. Hope it is all going well.

After 3 months of procastinating and umming and ahhing, I've literally just come back from the post box having just posted my DMP application.

    EEEEEEKKKKK

I've also just spend the last few hrs writing to each creditor, with token payment cheques, and these will be posted on my pay day, just before they are expecting usual payment, and two days before I go on a 10 day holiday, my first in 2 yrs. Ahhhhhh. Lush. So hopefully I should miss the first barrage of calls.

I've also just finished writing my reclaim bank charges letter. HSBC are gonna hate me, bank charges and DMP in one month.

Now I've got to try and get out of the office, I'm a foot deep in paperwork.

    Cheerio

anyway without going into all the details ...the company we are with are somewhat - not the best BUT - we have our reasons for [STRIKE]sacking the losers off [/STRIKE]going it alone ;) all of our creditors are happy at our payments and accepted etc and in the last 12 months we have paid approx £11k off and as of september we can pay more - BUT how do you go about doing a DMP yourself? .... i have searched for the letters i send - anyone experience of this please? and do you think creditors would be ok (as they will be gettin more money!) with us? ....im confident i can do this but just need a lil reassurance please...:o
any advice or pm's appreciated please

An alternative is to go with cccs or payplan. It will be the same deal as now for you but with no fees to pay.

Another good tip is to search for posts by rayday2 - she is doing a IY DMP and is a star and our leading light here. I'm sure she'll be along soon.

Come to think of it, you don't really need to send much of a letter to each....

    Dear Sirs,

Please note that, with immediate effect, we are no longer represented by [scumbag DMP company] and will be managing our DMP ourselves.

Having reviewed our budget, we have found we are now able to pay £xxx which is an increase of £xxx from our previous payments.

Please provide by return the Sort Code and Account number we shoud use to transfer the monthly payment to the account.

    yours etc....

And if I were you, I'd send them recorded delivery.

Hi, I just sent off my forms for CCCS to start up my DMP with them. Got just under £60k of credit card debt and can no longer meet the monthly payments as my husbands business is not doing well and my own income doesn't cover it.

Did the online debt remedy and it said we qualified for a Low Cost DMP which is a temporary solution over about 12 years (I assume they don't want it to take that long). Luckily my pay should be going up considerably some time next year, whenever the pay agreement gets passed, and that puts us into
about 8 years to pay off the debt.

I think I may have done something wrong though. I sent off the template letters and then two days later sent token payments to each one via internet banking. Should I have sent a cheque with the templates? Too late now I guess but will they know that's what I was doing?

Also, how long til I hear back from CCCS. Sent the letter 1st class on Thursday so not expecting anything immediately but just wondering how long it should take. I said that the DMP would start in September.

I only got up the courage to do this by reading this forum so thanks to everyone here. I don't know where we would have been otherwise.

My main problem is setting up another bank account. I got turned down by Citibank even though I didn't want an overdraft and am going to try for a Key Account at RBS tomorrow. Anyone know if they are any good? I don't know what I'll do if they say no as CCCS said I have to have a different account since my main one has a huge overdraft which is on the DMP. I've had no problems with the bank account really and don't want to change it.

Anyway I think I could probably do with the support as I'm both terrified and relieved at taking this step.

    August 08 debt £58544.84, Paid £1668, Dec 08 Total £58236.48
DMP with CCCS £417 per month - Starting 01 Sept 08
Increased to £443 per month Jan 09.

  • Morning all. Well another creditor has agreed GE Money who ran my Debenhams Card. The letter said it is only agreeing for a temp period but did not say how long but they have stopped interest so at least that is something so 6 down 4 to go.

Parlsey good luck with it all. We are making our first payment to CCCS 1st September as well, unfortunatley due to the small amount we can pay at the moment we are looking at 20 years  but I will be back at work when my youngest starts school and OH is due several wage rises over the next year so not to bothered about the 20 years.

    Hi longforthesun,

I have 4 debts with GE Money and in my experience, once they agree to your DMP, they will pass it on to a DCA called CL Finance within a couple of months. Don't worry though CL Finance wrote to me and told me everything continues as it is with no interest or charges. I had to speak to them regarding one payment and they were really helpful.
