Longforthesun, thank goodness for your comment! I got a letter from A&L credit card today (run by mbna) stating exactly the same thing. Was going to ring them tomorrow and bite their heads off because we've only just set up our dmp and they froze interest. You have just saved me having to go through it all with them again so instead I will use my time wisely ie: drink a cup of coffee in peace and smile in the knowledge they are just trying it on with everyone!

    Thanks again!

  • WhoopieDoodle thanks for the heads up won't worry too much then if we start receiving lots of letters from them.

Simbalou the girl actually told me that it is a standard letter sent out to anyone with arrears regardless of the stage you are in setting up a DMP, so I expect lots of people get these but it still made me mad though this morning. Enjoy your coffee.

Thanks Maz and longforthe sun, hubby called them as I could not rest!
Anyway, the women that left the message was not there so he spoke to an equally unhelpful women. She did not seem to know why he had called, said he was returning their URGENT call. She said they have not heard from payplan
BIG FAT LIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1) the message on my ansa phone said they had spoken to PP today 2) we had a letter from MBNA saying they would not accept PPs offer
Anyway, the long and short of it.......surprise surprise they want more money and then they would only accept a DMP through them not PP.
Hubby was very calm, saying you know we are only dealing with PP and you have our reference number (must have said they 1/2 dozen times - think they are robots and it does not sink in)!

Oh and this is genius.....after the said they had not heard from PP, had no SOA etc.... said the offer we had made was not enough, to which hubby replied, how do you know what the offer is if you have had nothing from PP!!??
Evenutally, women said we are not getting anywhere and would get the other women to call..........

    so the story continues.........

Think I will take all your advice and not speak to them anymore - will call PP in the morning to update them

Oh dear Angel Cake - im so glad your hubby was so calm well done, me they are like a red rag to a bull with me,,,arghhhhhh

    now im calm - lol

you learn pretty fast on here gal, yes writing all the way, i now refuse to speak with them as they just are so rubbish is the only word i can say on this forum that is of the queens polite english!!

i hope your hubby has recovered anyway dont put him through that again pls, do him a nice drink

anyway everyone else hope you are all having fun

    ciao for now MAZ

  • Hello thanks for the reply's the other day,Pc been down for a few days.

I am about to start a DMP with Payplan,I need a basic bank account. The problem is I have just been turned down by HSBC and Citibank. My credit rating only shows late or missed payments.I currently bank with Natwest but owe them a loan and overdraft.

I have another account with Alliance and Leicester which has no overdraft,I could use that to swap over my wages and essential direct debits, but i have 1 linked creditor with them which is an MBNA credit card.I dont know what to do,I need to get this sorted very soon, what would alliance and leicester do if i switch to them.

My other options are Co op cashminder and yorkshire readycash which I will try tomorrow. What would I do if I get knocked back by them 2 banks.

I was feeling possitive but now feel worse than ever,I just want to get on with paying my debts.

What facilities would you need on the account hun as it may be possible for you to get one of the Instant Access Savings accounts instead at a push just to get you started and back in full control of your Income.

Although I am not sure why they would turn you down for a basic account, did you make sure you mentioned you don't want any facilities on it etc as I know the whole purpose of the basic accounts was for people that have some difficulties or for benefit payments etc. Mind you I put nothing past HSBC at the moment, just reading the name makes me all grrrrrr

Hang in there and I am sure you will get the right account and if need be use the A&L account as a stepping stone :A

I would ring them and ask them what is best to do. They might be able to split them up and then put your bit on hold for a month or so until you know where you are with the money side of things.

Thanks for the replies newlywed and rayday i will give them a call later,

On a good note yesterday i had a letter from halifax saying they would refund all the past bank charges which comes to £2257 which will be credited to our (frozen) joint bank account.

I have reclaimed 6074.22 in all now and still have letters with FOS for PPI around 14,000 which i hope to use eventually to pay F&F fingers crossed

  • Thats brilliant news Any Chance. So far I've had £7K back in charges and by the time I finish that figure should be around the £10K mark. I'm also chasing a missold endowment policy. :j

    Morning,

What sort of charges have you been able to claim back???

    Over limit charges?
    Late payment charges?
    Interest?

    Hi pinksparkle

i have so far just claimed the usual overlimit fees etc on the bank account

PPI and charges on halifax credit card

i have stopped halifax charging interest on the cc (they had restarted after a year) i am trying to reclaim the interest they have put on since being on the DMP on the credit card and loan

also with the money being put back into the bank account i am going to request they write off the rest of the outstanding debt e.g

they are offering 2257, overdraft is 3750 so the 2257 offered as a F&F

    its worth a try
