GH - don't forget to contact your gas and electric company - tell them you are on IB and ask them whether you can make low monthly repayments of the debt because you are on benefits
The lower you can get those, the more you will have to live on or pay more to other debts - or save in case of further problemsworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hello and welcome Hellodolly. Payplan know what they are doing so stick with them. All will be fine.
Rayday, I reckon there must be a number of people needing numbers now. :rotfl: Oops I'll go and hide.
You would think I would learn to leave well alone but no I have to go harassing my creditors. :rotfl: I have a Studio debt which is with Robinson Way. I owe about £180. I have claimed back charges of £110 for which I'm awaiting a response. Anyway in my excitement and in my usual jump the gun fashion I thought I'd phone Robinson Way for a F&FS. What a nightmare. Before I even said why I was ringing the guy told me I owed £250 and needed a payment today. :rotfl: I told him I didn't. He then started muttering about interest. I told him I didn't do interest. He kept putting me on hold and then he told me to contact CCCS and they didn't want to speak to me. :rotfl: That is usually my line. Eventually he put me on to another guy who told me I owed £180 but they were willing to accept £150 to clear it. He said he could do it for me over a few months. I told him I was prepared to pay £90 as F&FS. He said he would put this to Studio. Apparently it takes 14-28 working days. I have no intention of paying them anything I am hoping that I'll get them to accept £110 or under and their refund of charges (which I hope to get) will cancel them out.
Meanwhile I'm fighting with Cahoot who don't seem to know the difference between a £10K loan and an overdraft. :rotfl:0 -
They don't get numbers unless they ask nicely and ply me with cake I am getting all corrupted0

Ghosthunter I think you just have to go for it. There is no point in worrying about the what ifs. They may or may not happen. We may all lose our jobs tomorrow or get run over a bus the day after or whatever. In the meantime we get DMPs in order to sort out our finances the best we can and deal with our debts.0

Eviction is not a possibility for unsecured debts. I'm guessing that this was for something else NW?
:rotfl: Teach me to jump to the last page I was wondering who you were calling hellodolly - then I went back a page.
Welcome hellodolly! :T0 -

No the "ask creditors to write off your debt due to circumstances"

"Write off" means creditors accept that they have no hope of getting the debt paid and walk away. I think it's rare but it can happen.
An additional few questions (sorry but learning as we go):
What happens if income goes down?
If income goes down, money to creditors goes down. They all get a bit less than before.
What happens if I have to repay gas & electric from benefits or additional payments (therefore reducing surpless)?
See above
What happens if I find out the creditor I am in dispute with is genuine and I have to include them in my DMP?
Number of creditors goes up, total debt goes up, available money stays the same and is divided between all creditors. They all get a bit less than before.
What happens if I decide to pay the £85 rent to MIL (against her wishes) as she is struggling herself?
Rent goes up, available money goes down..... etc etc.
You cannot pay to creditors money which you do not have. (they can all take a flying leap..)0 -
hellodolly wrote: »Hello all,
Just like to say I worry terrible,so here goes.
I have (yesterday) had phone interview with Payplan.they were very good and suggested a DMP.I would have liked to pay the vreditors more but Payplan said there were guidelines that even the creditors use to make sure people have enough money to get by.
So I accepted there advise,a hude weight was lifted until today.I now am worried the creditors will not accept my payments and send in the bailiffs.I am so worried about this,I just imagine these people coming into my house and taking my childrens things. That I couldnt bear.
I am going to proceed with the plan Paypal suggest but I am really pre-occupied with bailiffs.
Sorry to go on a Bit.

I'd like to say that even though I know what Andy and Newlywed say to this is completely correct- I still panic about it- I think I'll feel like that until my DMP gets going.
I was told by NDL that anyone who comes to your door has no more right of entry then a stranger so don' invite/ or allow them in. If you call the police that will be the ones in the wrong- that is why DCA threaten callers, but rarely if ever act on it. Hope that helps xxLBM June 2008 Debt at LB £6906.65 :eek:Payments to date-£2933.871 year to lose:j 20 pounds- September 2009 (9 so far) (Weight loss the old style way)"A life lived in fear, is a life half lived"0 -

Hello everybody
 An influx of replies to my posts thanks folks
WhoopieDoodle - I have called National Debtline thats what I am doing my DMP by. CCCS & Payplan said they couldnt help. Which got me here in the end :rotfl: !
HelloDolly - Hi welcome and stop fretting, you a lot like me but the kind folk on here are very patient, understanding and knowledgable. I would say theyve been there, done that but that would be an insult and I dont want to worry you any more than you need to. As always heres to a long friendships.
ExSpendaholic - Gas & Electric thanks for reminding me! I called e-on and asked them what they can do, they wouldnt even make a suggestion other than me to call the Jobcentre and ask for 3rd party deductions. I called the benefits office and after waiting a week for a reply they turn me round back to tell e-on they have to call the benefits office themselves (and they should know that!) Will try again tomorrow!
Newlywed - Thanks for link to letter I will have a look in a mo.
Andytwonames - thanks for all the answers, I know its all hypothetical but its good to be prepared!
Off to do the forms now.
:rotfl:PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTS!0
