Current markets do factor in the euro rising over the next couple of months (ie become better value for you). However, it is impossible to tell what will actually happen in practice! However, it doesn't make too much sense to buy at today's rate when websites such as:
http://www.crowncurrencyexchange.com/content/euros.asp
will give you a better rate if you take delivery of the euros in September. (or August).
Having said that the difference isn't huge! Personally I would probably hold off and use my Nationwide debit card when I go.0 -
ok i only post this incase anyone had heard generally whether the euro exchange will get better than it is now, not for some date. i was asking a general question
The rate has improved very slightly in the last week (possibly as a result of the Irish vote?) but only by a factor of a cent or two. The trurh remains that the rate has fallen by about 15% in the last year and it makes everything noticeably more expensive.Thank God we still have cheap food and petrol here eh!:p
And to answer your q, knowing 'when' to buy currency is like predicting the weather in a month's time.(I've made a note about August 4th btw.........)0 -
Best bet is to open a Nationwide Flexaccount and use the card to take out Euros from ATM's as needed. There's no charge for the withdrawals and you'll always get a better exchange rate than you'd find at home.0

I don't normally brag about my currency forecasting abilities, but ...............
To purchase a Euro on Jun 19 2008 would cost 78.63p. Now, if the OP had asked me a while ago I would have said that the best time to buy would have been pm on the 3rd May 2000, when a Euro would have cost 57.11p .
It's easy when you know how !

I didn't know you could buy euros in May 2000, more than 18 months before they were officially introduced in the euro-zone.0 -
