Hi, we are really really short of money at the moment (all related to health problems and I don't want to borrow money that I then have to pay back etc etc etc).
I have £10 and I need to come up with a way of feeding 2 adults and 1 child for a week with that. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I usually cook from scratch, make own bread etc so would need to buy flour, pref some fruit and need sandwiches for the week for hubbie.
Is it possible?
Thank you so much for reading and any advice.

hey dazed, first things first, what have you already got in? can you make a list of whats in your cupboards, fridge and freezer? then the planning can begin.
off the top of my head i'd say find a local market and get some veg there, go to lidl or tesco for bread flour, try buying woopsied (reduced) veg if tesco's have any.
i'm sure more ideas will pop up.
you could have a look at the eat for 50p threads that are floating aroundNonny mouse and Proud!!

You need some recipes from Weezl's thread, USDA challenge. her budget was £40 per month.[SIZE=-1]"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"[/SIZE]

Thanks Purpleivy, I will search for that one.
We have very little left actually! There's some frozen veg (peas & sweetcorn) and frozen fishcakes (homemade), 8 x2 portions of pork loins (bought two packs on offer from Tesco's and froze in sets of 2), 2 packs of frozen lean mince.
We have onions, carrots but that's about it. I'm having a bit of a panic moment....0 -

Dazed, you can make loads out of that:-
Pork loins with HM oven chips and veg (if you need recipe for HM oven chips let me know)
meatballs and spaghetti (using the mince)
cottage pie served with veg
Fishcakes served on bed of chilli noodles (use value noodles and add a bit of sweet chilli sauce, again Tesco's own think it was about 46p last time I bought it)
Stir fry pork with veggies (chop up couple of the pork loins) serve with noodles or rice
Soup? (carrot and onion is nice, put a little potato through it to make it thicker)
So you'd only need to buy potatoes, spaghetti, noodles, chilli sauce and rice if you have rice with the stir fry
sandwiches, buy packet cold meat. Think its 10 slices for 49p in tesco (value). Fruit, whatever is on offer. What about making flapjacks and a snack/pudding?CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You could make a bolognaise sauce, and bulk it out with red lentils and whatever veg you have. I find that 500g lean minced beef will make 12 servings that way.
Porridge is a great filling breakfast. I use value oats.

Hello! Not too sure if this is what you're looking for but, here's what you can do with what you've got and you would only have to buy potatoes, eggs, bread, lunch meat, fruit, and milk (?), maybe 2 more types of veg for a bit of variation! You will be able to get all of this in Aldi/Lidl for less than £10.
Homemade cottage pie using the mince - bulked out with some frozen peas, sweetcorn, & shredded carrot. Would only need to buy the potatoes for the mash topping. You could make this last for two nights if you don't mind the same thing twice.....!
Pork Loins with frozen veg and homemade sauteed potatoes
Use the second lot of mince to top a jacket potato and serve with veg
Buy some sandwich meat (for hubbie) and use the leftover meat for Omelettes.
Mini roast - pork loins with roast potatoes, veg & gravy (if you have some)
Sorry I've only focused on dinners - just trying to come up with some variations using what you've got in your cupboard - therefore less to buy!
I really hope this helps...! Sorry if it wasn't exactly the kind of help you were looking for! Ash xxOfficial DFW Member 716 - Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
Dear all, thank you so much. This is brilliant. I am going to sit down when my son goes to bed and make a meal plan. I also have porridge, rice krispies and cheerios-so breakfast can alternate between those
Any more ideas gratefully received. My panic is subsiding-thank you!0 -
You guys are amazing, I'm going to steal some of these ideas as I'm really trying to cut down on our expenditure.0
