I think at this point I'd be a right biatch over the oil claim given what you've said and offer to pay the claimants out of pocket expenses in full and add a grand to cover the inconvenience of it all. Obviously it being such a pain in the aris to live with they'll already have paid out clean up fees and repair fees to their property and solicitors fees... only the gamble is they'll have done sod all other than whinge and rub their hands in glee at the thought of sueing you for a sizable wodge of cash. If they haven't forked out anything when it does go to court you're in a postiion to prove its not the major drama they've made it out to be and your settlement offer was more than generous.

Hope you've settled into the new place OK.

    Quick update
Course modules arrived:j First workbooks have to be done by 19th November:eek:. Ok they are not taxing, but even so, I am surrounded by boxes!~!!!!

I am surrounded by boxes! And last Thursday i fell down some steps and sprained my foot. It bl00dy hurt so much that I thought I had broken something! So rather than unpacking I have been having to rest up alot.

Meant that my poor OH had to do most of the clean through over the weekend.

The cleaners did a lovely job of the bits that they thought they should do, BUT what cleaner when told that the whole of the kitchen needs doing 'top to bottom'' doesnt clean the fridge or mop the floor:mad:. Ho hum.

Right off to unpack some more

Ouch to the sprained foot, hope you mend soon. It's all go with you at the moment isn't it! At least make the most of your sore foot to settle down and get your course-work done.

I'm having a hernia op next week and I am planning all the things I can do when I am unable to drive or do much about the house (what a shame!!) Looks like knitting and sewing are top of the list :D

Have a great weekend all x

You know we are settling into the house ok. My work books turned up and I spend a nice hour and a half yesterday, catching up. Had done one module and most of another one so all was good.

I also finally got my washing machine yesterday. After nearly wrecking it on the first wash :eek:(there were some bolts you were supposed to move and i hadn't read that part of the instructions!!! DOH). It is amazing how lovely the sound of a washing machine is when you have been handwashing everything in a bath for two weeks!

I woke up this morning and the sun was shining and I really thought I had turned a corner.

It all went to rat !!!!!! when I sat down at the computer.

My sis has lost her baby. She is of course in pieces about it and I too am very sad. The thing is it has been such a !!!!!! year already with the family with losing my dad so this would be bad enough. But my bro lost a baby also later pregnancy when my DS2 was a year old. They haven't really recovered from it, and I am sure this will just bring all the pain back for them too.

And here I am sitting with two DS's who are annoying, funny, bright, aggravating, testing, loving and scrummy and I feel guilty. We nearly didn't have DS2 and the post natal depression after his birth has been very hard on all of us, but at least they are here..

So I know I should be grateful. But I am not feeling that this morning. And that is because of the other bombshell in my inbox this morning.

As regular readers will know we have had this ongoing saga with being pursued for money due to an oil leak. We had regretfully decided that we would have to settle the claim because we probably wouldn't have won in court. And though it get right in my craw that we are having to do this, I had kind of made my peace with it. And we were waiting to see how the game of offer and counter offer played out because the other side were having trouble providing paperwork for their claim.

Well of course they have now done this. Even after taking off (hopefully) their admin costs and the interest, the total for just the remediation work is 36000 pounds.............!!!!!!.

Our solicitor wanted to know how much we could raise in 28 days as otherwise we would have to do it in installments at say 8k a month.......erm yeah right. We are really going to be able to sell our house in 28 days, even with a buyer lined up.....

To say i am in despair is an understatement. I KNOW it is only money and I would much rather be facing this than what my sis is facing at the moment. But even so am I allowed to be p!ssed off for just a little bit. 36k. I mean it just is such a lot of money. I KNOW it could be worse, the could refuse the offer, go to court and win and we would probably have a bill closer to 58k, so this would be a GOOD outcome. But even so.....

And all this could have been avoided if we had been a bit more wise about the insurance policy we took out. If we had just asked will it cover an oil spill, they would have said no, and we would have got a more expensive policy from someone else which would cover it......

    if only......

So my advice to you if you have anything out of the ordinary with your property DON'T ASSUME that you are covered. Check check and check again and get it in writing. Because if we had we almost certainly wouldn't have been in this mess.

Absolutely hate it all at the moment.

And my stupid foot still bloody hurts.......
