Well done to your DS's Chev - good going to both of them!

Also, inspired by your clothes sorting I have made an attack on my wardrobe. Two carrier bags of stuff for the charity shop, a bit more space useable, and the knowledge that the stuff that is in there, with the exception of a couple of dresses, all fits. :D

Thanks EH, you know I have already replied to this, but it seems to have got lost between here and the uk (insert shruggy smiley here).

Thanks for your congrats re the boys. It is nice when they do well. Glad I motivated you ref the clothes decluttering. I still have some not fitting YET clothes. But soon.

I had to laugh though. We had a card put through from the courier post here. So had to drive down to the sorting office. I got all excited because a kind MSEr on Hypno's thread is going to send me a copy of the Shred DVD. And I thought that this was it. Imagine my disappointment when it wa 'only' my residency permit coming through and they were sending back my passport! I think I have got my priorities wrong some where:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Thanks Taxi my DS1's reaction was 'yippee now we can get out of this dump' ie our rental place, I can see his point. We can't put things up on the walls, and can't have pets, but I hadn't realised that he disliked it this much!!!

Stressful like you wouldn't believe. I virtually only have to think about the immigration dept, and start wanting to swear a blue streak. I never thought that there would beaureaucrats (sp) that were worse than British ones, but these ones take the cake and the biscuit. They literally only tell you the answers to the questions you ask, EVEN IF they know there is a crucial bit on information you haven't got, they won't volunteer it to you. Drove me up the flippin wall (can you tell lol:mad:)

  • LOL @ multiple posts - they're like buses aren't they?! LOL also at your description of the NZ immigration people - at least you're done with them now though which is excellent news. What's the next step then - looking for somewhere permanent to live in I take it?

That was a lovely comment about the inspiration though - and very true, this site (specifically this area of it I think) has a real sense of "give, and take" doesn't it. :T

Would that it was that easy. You get a residency permit to be allowed to live here. And it is permanent EXCEPT if you leave, then you have to get another permit to be allowed to return to the country after you have left. Sadly this returning residency visa only lasts for 2 years, so I will still have to have some interaction with them. But at least it is only every two years.

And yes we will be looking for either a new rental, or a new house to buy.....But the exchange rate is completely pants at the moment, only $2.11 to the £, when it was £2.85 to the £ when we got there. So even if we do sell our house quickly in the UK, I would be a bit reticent about bringing it over here on such a poor exchange rate.

Ho hum we have people in our house til Feb, so we have a little time to decide what to do.
