another lidl victim....I had parked in the LIDL car park & went 22 minutes over my two hours...city parking enforcement are asking me to pay £75 by this Friday or 150 if it reaches them any later...I did not see their notice but the excess is outrageous - if I dispute the fine or go to trading standards & lose will I be liable to pay the 150??

    Hi there...

Was this also at the Welling store....or perhaps Sidcup?

For starters it might be worth going back and checking for signs... and see if they are obvious to the customers... to be fair at Welling they are very prominent I think.

The problem is that the 2 hour rule is designed to stop people like you..... unless that was one seriously long queue in LIDL's (I know they can be) :p

Sorry... I'm not helping... and I'm as guilty as the next person for parking sneekily in the LIDL car park whilst I go elsewhere.... 2 hours 20 minutes is quite a long time...

I'm not sure on this one... I think it would be a toughy to contest really...it might be easier to pay up now... as annoying as it is (the fee is unjustly high)...but if you wait you will probably pay the £150 and if it goes to court you may have to pay the fines as well as legal fee's.

Certainly send CITY a letter and ask them if they could extend the time period by 7 days on the grounds that you are dealing with LIDL... then if you are a regular customer with LIDL... send them a letter and state your greviance, also point out how you are regular customer (assuming you are) - perhaps refer to your bank statements etc for dates and amounts. LIDL are very conscious about their public image I think and will try to ensure that their customers are satisfied....the knock on effect of something like this (you tell your family and friends for example) can be quite dramatic.

I have been caught on camera at the Clapham Lidl!

I thought that it was 2hrs parking so stayed for 1hr 50mins and got a letter through demanding £90!

Although i did over stay i think that the fine is grossly disproportionate to the offence and as it is on Public property is probably neither an offence or fineable!

Are there any grounds to dispute it on the size of the charge, like bank charges?

    Thanks in advance!

The fact that the "invoice" (it's not a fine) is grossly disproportionate is exactly why they will never take you to court, they wouldn't win!

Ignore them... don't contact them at all! After a few threatening letters they will give up. Don't let the thought of paying cross your mind.

    Hi

I work for local council in london ( Parking Services) i would be happy to help with you deal with this fine. A friend of mine recently got a parking fine was parking in lidl as well which we i got cancelled.

    First Step
You need to write to the company as the Road Traffic Act allows you the opportunity to make a representation. Do not ignore the notice as it will not go aways

    Points for your letter

1, Ask them to provide evidence and parking attendants notes that contravention occured such as road tax detials,
2,A copy of the Traffic Management Order relevant to the loaction where the vehicle parked
3, That you willing to go an independant Adjudicatior for the case to heard.

Hope this help. Get back to me if u need more information

I don’t see what anything you have written has to do with the OP

RTA doesn’t apply, Traffic Management Orders don’t apply and there is no Independent adjudicator for private car parks.

    OP…….

I strongly suggest you ignore what blacksta has said and go with the advice others have given and what you’ll learn from pepipoo.com.

Basically you have nothing to worry about, it’s one of these parasite companies trying it on.
