Oh well, looks like I'll stick with 2.0.0.14. I'm quite surprised that Mozilla released a version with bugs....reminds me of u know who:rolleyes2:

Not got any bugs here that are causing any problems. :)

If extensions don't work with FF3, then that isn't a bug. The extension developer needs to sort that so it is compatible with the new version. The RCs have been out long enough for most to do this if they wanted to.

  • Has anyone had a problem with scrolling in FF3? The scrolling seems radically different - its slightly jerkier, but more annoyingly it seems to hurt my eyes for some reason. Have had to go back to version 2 for now. Is this a bug??

The "smooth scrolling" has always worked fine for me.

I assume that the option is still checked for you after upgrading?

EDIT: I think there have been some reported problems under OS X.

  • Yes I'm still on smooth-scrolling. I've switched it on and off. The problem has been reported by others, but only a few mentions so far. Scrolling in FF3 hurts my eyes substantially. Never had that before with any other browser (e.g. FF2, IE6, IE7, Opera) etc.

I just compared how it looks to me in both Opera 9.5 and IE7, and I can't see any difference.

But it may not be something that I'm sensitive enough to.

People blaming Firefox for their extensions not working is inevitable I think. Probably a very good reason for not producing software that works with 3rd party extentions - people will hassle you when it's not your fault!

At the same time a lot of those extenstions were probably written on a whim and the author has forgotten about them. Or they may have decided that another extension does the same, and does it better, so have abandoned it.

But it would be a shame if Mozilla refused to accept extensions on their site unless the author promised to keep it up to date - that would probably put a lot of authors off.

I do think, however, that it would be useful to have an easy way of showing how many people have requested one to be updated. The comments show this to a degree. If an abandoned extension proves really popular it might encourage someone else to pick it up where it's been left off. And of course, there's nothing stopping anyone doing so (except the learning curve of how to write them!)

Sounds like something a certain manufacturer of a certain operating system came under severe fire for ;)

Just updated to FFox 3 and apart from my preferred theme not being available yet, most of my addons are fine.
Dephormation wasn't available, but I was never sure it worked in the first place as I always found the webwise cookies had got in so it's been uninstalled now anyway.
Until more themes are updated I have gone with the Pimpzilla one which is quite fun . I'm actually quite impressed with FF3 so far :D.
