  • Our foolproof recipe is from the Barbie Cookbook

    6 oz plain flour
    2 oz caster sugar
    3 oz soft brown sugar
    pinch salt
    4 oz melted butter
    1 beaten egg
    drop of vanilla essence
    1/2 teaspoon bicarb of soda
6 oz good quality dark chocolate, bashed up

We beat everything together and shape into balls with wet hands. Flatten onto non-stick baking paper. They spread quite far apart.

Bake Gas 4 160C fan for 10 mins

The key thing with cookies - the VITAL thing - we find, is to take them out BEFORE they look done. This way, they are soggy in the middle rather than just a large biscuit. You have to experiment to find the exact timing for your oven and cookie size but I tend to look at the cookies after 8 minutes

    Hope this helps
  • I use this recipe (not my blog, just one I like), but only use 200g choc chips. I use white chocolate chips, but then I have a very sweet tooth.

I tried making choc chip cookies today with a recipe from a mag. It was very similar to one above but the taste horrid - like egg! Even the kids won't eat them and I've already tried icing/choc coating them (to try and save them) but am afraid the whole lot is going to end up in the bin if I can't use them in something else, what a waste! :(

I use a recipe from Rachel Allen-the basic cookie recipe is:

    225g of butter,
    125g of granulated sugar
Mix until creamy and then add 275g of plain flour and mix, then we add extras :D

To make double chocolate chip add a bit of cocoa powder and chocloate chip, we have also added desicated cocunut, dried cranberries but you can also try herbs and spices as well.

Put into little balls about the size of a walnut and then flatten a little with the back of a warm fork. Cook at 170 c for 15- 20 mins until golden. Hope this helps :D
Divorce all finished- now to start saving for a better future!
  • I feel a batch of cookies coming on :o I'll add this to the existing CCC thread to keep recipes together.
