right, they say curiosity killed the cat, I just HAD to work it out for my own curiosity!

I don't know how much the electricity would have cost to power the oven and the cost of the baking powder and salt are neglible so I haven't worked those out but here you go...these are approx and based on using mostly Tesco own brand stuff and flour and sugar are based on the cost of a 500g bag (it's be cheaper if you bought the 1kg bag etc)

    b/Sugar 11p
    Egg 14p
    Choc 42p
    g/sugar 9p
    butter 35p
    vanilla extract 18p
    flour 11p

    baking powder neglible
    salt neglible

total cost of ingredients= 1.40 for 10 large cookies or 14p each!

so, for 4 it would cost approx 56p so Asda are making 44p profit. probably more for them as they get stuff cost price.

I don't know if it's worth me making some for DH to sell at work for the same price that Asda charge, can't see anyone not liking them after tasting them. Do you think it would be worth it, as, like I said I don't know what the electricity cost would be?

***edit**** oops the choc would be 35p not 42p! so new total is 1.33 for 10 or approx 13p each- 52p for 4 - the profit margin just went up! haha

OMG they look so nice :j

I know I would buy them. A lady at my work bakes cakes and biscuits and sells them, she makes a fortune.
