My hubby was riding a motorbike & overtaking a car that has just passed a junction when the car driver decided he want to park on the opposite side of the road - effectively 'parking' on my hubby.
Police were involved etc & traced him within by his reg & contacted me the registered owner who contacted me (only just bought the bike lol) - who found him at home (took a while as hubby was concussed & wandered off not knowing where he was or where he had been or going to!) & persuaded him to go to hosp etc (we had been to a friends & he had left me there while he nipped out to the shop)
Any way 2-3 weeks later the guy turns up - nice as pie at first but then tries to claim damages for the dents etc in the car!
Hubby told him to put it through the insurance & strangely we never heard another thing
Bloody cheek - cant use his rear view or side mirrors properly obviously & d*mn near wrote of both hubby & bike (the guy actually said he thought he had killed him) & tried to claim off us!!!!
I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I Know

I'm really sorry for all of you with genuine claims, it just makes what this woman is doing to me all the worse, really.

I haven't heard at all from the woman. My colleagues seem to think that she tried it on, and is probably out there trying to get another £700 from another unsuspecting innocent! Still, she might get in touch yet - I'll keep you all posted.

    Hi Hun

    Sorry to read your post.

If you/OH work within the police, could you not check the Reg number and the persons name? It does sound like a scam and you shouldnt communicate any further with this con artist!

I dont fully understand that if you have done nothing wrong and sincerely didnt cause the damage she is claiming why you wouldnt have let her call the police at the time of the incident:confused: ....I'm sorry but working within the police or not, I couldnt of stood there and said/done nothing. Were there any witnesses?

If you contact your local police station you may find that there have been other complaints and you may be able to help others too that have paid out money to them before.

I dont mean any of the above to hurt or upset you. You are a lovely person but Im responding to what you have posted.

I hope she leaves you alone.

    Good for you

Oh I don't know, if it had happened to me i would of either given verbals back (shaking like mad), or got upset and did what OP did.

Completely understand how you feel - I had a similar thread running recently where a guy shouted at me and I had to take a day off work because I couldn't stop crying! For some reason I only get that upset if I'm nastily accused of doing something wrong when I don't think (and certainly didn't mean) to do anything wrong.

You have a good cry if you want to - it doesn't make you pathetic at all, it just makes you a respectful and caring member of society! You clearly weren't maliciously attacking her car and even if you did dent it (which it sounds like you didn't), her response is unfair and anti-social.

Hope the insurance companies sort it out and it doesn't affect you too much

I know this may happen ...but wouldn't suggest she try this route. She could lose her job etc. Its' been reported, don't speak to her - let the insurance companies sort it out.

Let the insurance company handle it. my bet is she's done this before and it'll show up when they run their standard "scammer" checks.
