Playing devils advocat. Yes this woman does sound like a con artist, but there has been several people on here saying that they have been in a similar situation with the wind blowing the door open.

    BE MORE CAREFUL!!

Having those little plastic/rubber strips on your doors ONLY protects your own. In fact I've seen people who do have them on, purposefully fling the door open thinking it's a nice soft buffer and don't consider the other vehicle at all which takes the brunt of all the damage.

Door protects both the after market add ons and the side mouldings shouldn't be allowed! That way if you do fling your door open yours is just as likely to be damaged as is there's.

Shows how selfish and unaware of their surroundings or just don't give a dam people are.

Yes it happened to me - when I was in it! Some obnoxious woman got out, opened the door to let the kids out:

SMACK against my door as she opened it.
SMACK as the first kid piled out.
SMACK as the second piled out.

I said could you try being a little more careful and to look at the damage she'd caused, and she just came out with a load of abuse.
I asked what she was going to do about the large dent in my door.. she said "f all" now "f off" and stormed off.

By the time she got back I had the police there and she was charged with criminal damage. They took the view due to her attitude and the amount of damage it was no accident. They also fined her for defective tyres/no insurance and a few other charges.

As always she was driving a 20 year old heap and didn't give a too hoots about anyone else!

Excuse me! My car is 13 years old, and I suppose it could be considered a heap:rolleyes: - but it doesn't mean I don't have any respect for other's and their property!;)

As soon as you said she wanted £700 you know she's a scammer. I bet there has been others scammed by this aswell. Sounds like she was stood with her partner waiting for someone to do just that doesn't it. Do as the insurers have said and leave it with them, if there is a genuine claim it'll be paid. I'd be also tempted to discuss this with the local police, as she could be scamming a lot of people. It'll probably be on the next series of 'The Real Hustle'.
One day I might be more organised...........

God you must have been so afraid I hope you are ok?
    Take care .
  • this is the reason i don't want a nice new sparkly car. i've been hit twice, both times stationary- once at traffic lights, once at a roundabout when 2 cars in side by side lanes decided to fight for the spot behind me and yet i got hit *was cursing like a trooper, especially as i'd seen it all happen in my mirror*- and both times by myself in the car. it was my second car *as my original rust bucket died* but no-one ever hit the old old banger :(

what's the bet it was a shopping trolley that made the original dent :)
when the first cup of coffee tastes like washing up she knows she's losing it :o
