Being harrased by 3G

There are a few companies that are cold calling or texting customers on any Network telling them they are due an Upgrade but end up sending them a phone on THREE on a new line.
I recently produced a column in a magazine called FONE magazine with the headline "When is an upgrade not an Upgrade. When its a new line on a different Network"
In the column i urged Three to put a stop to these companies (THREE Resellers) practices, before THREE end up getting a fine of 10% of their turnover by Ofcom (whom are also aware of this) for miss-selling.
Have a look at http://www.ofcom.org.uk/consult/condocs/mobmisselling/responses/Hutchison3G.pdf
This is Hutchison 3G response to Ofcom's forthcoming General Condition.
I agree that Trading Standards should do more against these resellers using existing powers of the Enterprise Act so it may be worth complaining to them first.
I also emailed my THREE dealer manager about a month ago, whom advised me that they are aware and are trying to cancel these resellers dealer codes, but this is still going on.
This practice is called slamming and should be stopped. TMobile have banned outgoing call centres, apart from thier own.
In a year that the industry wants to clean its act up with all the Cashback fiasco of the last year, it needs to put a stop to this slamming miss-selling now.
If I was you I would contact Julie Minns at the address on the response to Ofcom.
I have received calls from these companies, my kids have had calls from them and many of my customers. It is causing confusion and if someone does take up the offer, a surpise when they get a new phone on a new number on THREE.
These companies just use automated dialers and receiving a call is totally at random. They just do not let up though and it is extremely frustrating to be disturbed by this poor practice.0 -
There is some info (and a phone number) about a company called 3G (which is nothing to do with "3") here:
http://www.3g.co.uk/3GHomeAboutUs.htm
This website isn't strictly a retailer or network seller - it's a primarily a news resource supplying info and developments on 3G networks and handsets.
They do have ads linking to 3's mobile store on the homepage, but it's not actually affiliated with 3. They also link to O2, Orange and T-Mobile stores. Whoever's been calling you is unlikely to have been representing this company."Who throws a shoe, honestly?"

Initially these companies give the impression that they are from 3Upgrades but they are just a resellers call centre.0
