Protx work hand in hand with a Merchant account from a bank , the merchant account will normally hold the funds for about 30 days before releasing it to the retailer, some it only 5 days

I'm also under the impression that if your debit card has the visa sign then the Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act still applies like it does on credit cards

• i cant believe it, but this caught me out too; i thought it was Zavvi so used a debit card thinking i was safe....protx seem to be backing away saying
its nothing to do with them, my bank allowed the payment to go through even though i rang them before the payment had been processed, so i cancelled my debit card immeadiately.
i think im going to have to put it down to experience, although im worried if they have used my details for any other transactions before i closed the card, so im checking online regularly.
on another forum i noticed someone had contacted watchdog on bbc, following his lead i did the same, might be worthwhile if a few others did likewise.

After looking at the old website it is now saying it has been shut down due to copyright and their is an address and phone number for the proprieter Paul
Clayton. I have just phoned the mobile number which was answered by someone saying hello Zavvi direct He assured me that they will be receiving the wii fits by Friday an they will be despatched within 4-5 days. I didn't ask for a refund as since this all happened in the first place the bank cancelled my card so am not sure it would work if they did give me a refund as I haven't yet received my new one and even if I had I would be reluctant to give them the new details any ideas?

What a nightmare all this is!

I too purchased a Wii Fit through zavvidirect.co.uk on Friday 13th ...I went to their website site yesterday to get contact details and ask about delivery. I quite literally went  when I saw the website had been taken off then dug a bit more and found various forums discussing this.

I contacted Protx and refunds@zavvi-direct.co.uk...Protx we're VERY helpful and responded very quickly...3 times! First two times they advised that they cannot help and to contact the vendor and my bank as soon as possible. The third time they said that they have been assured by the owner of Zavvi Direct, Paul Clayton, that orders placed will be honoured and gave useful contact details as below:

"
Due to copy right laws we have had to remove this web site.
We have been assured by Paul Clayton that any orders placed will be honoured.
Because of his assurance we have displayed all contact details that we have available for Mr Paul Clayton.
Please contact him if you require any further information.

I later had a reply from Zavvi Direct which said:

"
Hi,

I confirm the refund has been actioned as requested. It will take 4-5 working days to show back in your account.

Regards

John Manner
Accounts Department"

It would appear that some others had also had the same reply from them so I will wait and see if the refund comes through.

Apparently Paul Clayton has assured others that he is getting stock of the Wii Fit on Friday 20th June and orders for it will be sent out immediately.

Personally I just want a refund and will buy from a nice humble shop lol.

Hope this helps.

i have also ordered from zavvidirect, i rang the bank pretty much as soon as i ordered as i then became a bit weary, htey cancelled the payment but said that zavvidirect could still take the money and HSBC could not stop them. the money has just been withdrawn from my bank. do we think these will be delivered then or not? and also should i cancel my card?
many thanks

i have just emailed him, requesting a full refund, now awaiting paul's response, will let you know as soon as anything happens.
• I am not sure what is going on. Everyone who asked for a refund is saying that they have been told 4-5 days but I have not actually read of any one who has yet received one nor have I read of anyone who has ever received any type of goods from Zavvi direct. But on the other hand if it is a scam why is there someone still answering calls and replying to emails.
• I ordered a Wii Fit last Wednesday from Zavvi Direct then cancelled the order and asked for a refund as it all seemed a bit suspicous. I have emailed them twice now and have tried calling them but have got absolutely no response (not even to confirm whether they've received my request for a refund). I have spoken to Protx who were also absolutely useless so just have to see what my bank says, fingers crossed...

Hi there

I would call the company owner, Paul Clayton, on the mobile phone number given in my previous post on this thread. Most people have only recently (since Friday 13th) been told that they will receive refunds, I was told yesterday by Zavvi Direct that I will receive a refund so wont be able to report on that until end of this week/start of next week.
