Ages ago I joined UKS and even asked for someone to adopt me which they did!! I was soooo excited to have someone to ask questions etc etc to and do you know what I never heard back from them again!!! Such is life!!

I have done searches on there for crops in this area and there is somewhere fairly local but not sure i FEEl brave enough to turn up on my own as a complete beginner!! So I have put off starting out in the scrapbooking creative world but determined to start even if it means teaching myself the basics so I can start!! Hopefully some of the ideas I have from the few cards I have made will be transferable!!

    Thanks for advice xxx

I may be worth being 'adopted' again as there are some really good people there who can really help with any questions you help. Or you can ask here too.

I am looking at going to a retreat in November. Should be good. @ whole nights scrapping :D:D

    no probs

I wenrt on a kids retreat last year with my niece. It was great , really enjoyed-especially as I got to do 2 days of scrapping :D

the one I am looking at is £150 for Friday 10am until Sunday 5pm. This is in Kent. THis include DBB on Saturday , Dinner on Friday and Breakfast on Sunday. There are classes on Saturday but cost about £5 each so another £30 or so.

I would go on my own. I don't care :D

Furrypig - once a lady on ukscrappers was asking if there was anyone from Toxteth, Liverpool about that she could get together with. I replied telling her that I was from there too and she never replied to me. She made arrangements to meet up with all these other people who lived say 15 mins away and she completely ignored me who lives on her doorstep!! I think scrapbooking has improved my card making skills - just because I am using different products on my cards now. I never used to use flowers or patterned paper, now I can't make a card without sticking 101 flowers on it.

Mumofjusttwo - a scrapbooking retreat sounds fabulous - I'm sure you'll have an amazing time!!

i think that sounds like really good value actually!
I just think that I would be a bit useless as I haven't actually done any scrapping yet!! I think I would be too mush of a beginner at the moment though I love the idea of it! Especially with classes as you can pick and choose what you want ot do!

Oh Melissa it's a shame we don't all live nearer then we could all get together and scrap/crop/cardmake together or even just go shopping for crafty things together!!!

I wouldn't worry about being a beginner. The good thing about retreats etc is that you can get any ideas from other people. I like buying kits from shops and taking those. Saves having to raid your stash and not knowing what will work etc. I am hopeless at being able to tell if things match. Usually leave it to someone else :D

I asked to be adopted on there and never heard from the person either!!

I also asked on the craftsforum.co.uk website for some tips and one lovely person came back with an amazing long reply which made me feel more confident
*~* My life is a little mystery that I am still trying to solve*~*

so to hear that about |UKS. I guess I must have been lucky as I had someone who adopted me and was really helpful.
