I forgot to mention the 12 mini icecreams on a stick for £1.30 that are just like mini-Magnums."Life is like a game of cards. I buy most things in Lidl, only thing I refuse to buy is the baked beans. To me it tastes like they have mixed spice in them
The cooked meats are devine, especially the black forest ham0 -
I think the half price fruit and veg ends tomorrow (Sunday). When I picked up the most recent leaflet it no longer had the advertisements for it on anyway. Advertising reductions on chilled meats (I think) and Scottish food (This is the leaflet for Scottish stores).
I think their stuff is great, they may not do BOGOFs but their stuff is generally reasonably priced and I'm saving heaps by doing a lot of my shopping there. Even when I shop elsewhere I find the BOGOFs are mainly on stuff I don't buy anyway. Lidl don't do everything I want though so I still have to do topups elsewhere.
Things I particularly like are Cherry flavour jaffa cakes, deluxe salami selection, Premium Ham, Black Forest Ham and Pull up Nappies.
I also shop at Aldis and again the quality of their stuff is also generally excellent.0 -
I went to Aldi yesterday morning to pick up some of the silicone baking trays. Haven't been there for a while, wasn't planning to get anything else and ended up spending £40. Couldn't resist. Fox's chocolate layer biscuits, caramel shortbread some italian biscuits, smoked salmon, electric whisk, and a skipping rope (for after the biscuits) and loads more stuff. Their veg looked really good, so did their fruit and they had a decent selection of bread - I've been put off from shopping in aldi/netto/lidl in the past because of lousy bread.
Gonna make sure I do my proper food shop in there next week and avoid the middle aisles.0 -
I find though that the veggies don't store that well from Lidl, so if you are buying in bulk to last a week or whatever, you might find a lot of things turning rather quick. Then again that's maybe cos I'm in NI and we have the transport issue to deal with as opposed to direct from central suppliers in England??0

don't like their cornflakes, tea, jar dips (the 'Guacamole', yuk) baked beans (too sweet) potato croquettes or pickled beetroot0
