Phillips low-energy bulbs 11w are 47p and Phillips 18w are 49p in NETTO. I dont know how Phillips campare to General Electric for quality but I know in themselves they are highly rated bulbs. I believe MORRISONS are doing a similar price on Phillirs

Whenever there is a special on low-energy bulbs they are ALWAYS bayonet fitting. And every lampholder in my house is ES screw! So I end up buying them from electrical factors at silly prices for practically the same lamp.

Sorry I understand you didn't want to know that but just needed to vent

Unfortunately for you they are the bayonet fitting again!
That is the most popular type in the UK unless you have bought all your lamps from Ikea! :)

not sure - but i think the ones in nettos are philips

Phillips ones are Very good (That's difficult for me as i normally avoid Phillips products) - they start up Very quickly, almost like a normal bulb and "warm" up to full light very quickly - In comparison the Osram ones are very poor.

Just a thought - do Energy saving ones consume more energy if switched on / off quickly - I thought that was the case with Florecent bulbs - are they there fore suible for short use applications such as landings, bathrooms and toilets ???

When Morrisons were selling them for 99p AND BOGOF they had both BC and ES in both 60w and 100w equivalents in equal quantities in all the special display units
