Thanks, have used it instead of getting a takeway as its so quick to make so it saved me money but no its not the cheapest way!
I use a coleslaw recipe from my favourite site (at the moment) www.hillbillyhousewife.com you use cheapy mayo and a bit of lemon juice and vinegar and its really good, I don't like using a processor as it makes it mushy but its is really nice and quite easy to make by hand.

Heres my lasagne recipe from my meal planner:

    Lasagne Recipe

Preheat oven to gas mark 5. Peel and chop 1 cooking onion and add to a saucepan with some butter or margarine. Cook until golden and add 1 tin of value tomatos and a scwert of tomoto puree. When that is bubbling add 2 packets of value mince and a handful of herbs. Cook for around 20 minutes on a low heat.

Meanwhile boil about half a pint of milk in a saucepan and stir about 4 heaped teaspoons of cornflour into a bit of milk in a cup. When the milk is about to boil add the cornflour mixture and turn the heat down. Then add about 4 or 5 ounces of grated cheese and stir till melted.

In a baking tray layer up the lasagne sheets, mince mixture and cheese sauce mixture. Top with grated cheese and then bake in the oven for about 20 minutes ish.

  • I love coleslaw and make all different kinds - here are some of my favourite ones:

    Fruity slaw

half a white cabbage finely shredded (FS)
    two medium carrots, (FS)
one small onion, finely chopped (FC)
two granny smith apples, cored and chopped
    handful of raisins
30z cheddar cheese (or your favourite kind), grated
    salt and pepper to taste

mix all above in large bowl and then make the dressing from 8tbs Hellmann's extra light mayo, two tbs low cal salad cream, squirt of lemon juice and seasoning to taste (I just use a little white pepper)

    Traditional coleslaw

    half a white cabbage, FS
    two medium carrots FS
    one small onion FS
    salt and pepper to taste
Mix all above together and dress with mayo and salad cream as above but don't add the lemon juice. A tbs of fresh cream in the dressing is lovely but not really necessary.

    Madras Coleslaw

cabbage, carrot and onion as above, one apple FC, handful of sultanas, juice of a lemon, all mixed up in a large bowl dressed with mayo and salad cream as above, mixed with 2tbs medium curry powder (more or less if you like it milder or hotter), 1tbs mango chutney, 1tbs lemon juice, 1tsp cider vinegar, 1tsp Splenda or sugar.

Black saturn has one in her menu planner.
Also theres a good one on the campbells website - you use a tin of condensed mushroom soup and half pint of milk for the white sauce, mince, tomato puree and tin of mediterranean tomato soup for meat sauce. Topped with cheese. Very handy for a quick but really good lasagne.

ooh ive not tried that one but this one : " creamy chicken & mushroom lasagne" my family love ,makes a change from the usual mince lasagne :)

they also have a "6 veg lasagne " on the site which looks / sounds nice

my fave though is spinach and cheese lasagne yum yum :p

im going to attempt a lentil lasagne this week ,dont know if it will go down very well with hubby though lol

Queen Delia bakes the bolognase for lasagne in the oven for a couple of hours before layering with pasta and white sauce. It takes ages but it's worth it, the mince goes all sticky and thick and tastes amazing.

Try mixing 1/2 cheese and 1/2 breadcrumbs for a crunchy topping
