Hi Everyone,
I recently realised that I am way overcommited on credit and have finally taken the bull by the horns and tackled the problem by calling CCCS and starting a DMP.
It's a struggle but I have just made my 1st payment to them and most of my creditors have accepted already. The weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Even if it takes me until 2016 to get into the light!
I know there are lots of diarys on here but it's for my benefit more than anyone else's so that I can track my progress and remember how much better things are than when I started. Also I hope that my progress will encourage others to face up to things and make positive changes in their attitude towards money/credit.
That's all for now.
Take care all.

Yesterday I received a letter from GE Money regarding my Dorothy Perkins store card. Although most of my creditors have accepted the reduced payments GE Money obviously haven't. This is the 1st letter since the last statement and it's a bit harsh. I have to pay the full balance or else they may start legal proceedings.
I hope this means that they just pass it to a DCA. That way, hopefully, interest will be stopped and I can pay them the lower payments offered by CCCS.

My GE money debt got passed to a DCA almost immediately and interest stopped straight away once that happened. It's funny but now I dont have a DP card I dont buy anything in there so its obvious I was only buying because I could and not because needed anything.0

Hi,
GE Money were a pain to start with and sent lots of letters but once I'd made a couple of payments they accepted and stopped interest. On the 3rd Payment, they handed it over to a DCA.
The DCA they handed it to (CL Finance) have been excellent! Wrote to me stating not to worry and the payment arrangement will continue with no interest.
Just hang in there had 4 debts with GE and received a letter from them almost every day but they were quite good in the end.LBM : March 2008

Thanks, I'm hoping that's what will happen. I had a special agreement with GE Money a awhile ago when I had trouble paying but it was for £25 a month instead of £5 a month so I guess it was too low this time.
The letter was threatening all sorts, including bailiffs, charging orders etc...but I think thats just scare tactics.
I hope!

yes they are usually scare tactics. when i first had those types of letters and phone calls they really worried me but through this site i have learned a lot more about what they really can and cant do so im no longer worried. CL finance seem to have accepted my payment with no problem. often the DCAs are much easier to deal with.0

Ok. Next problem on my road to repaying my debts.
My 1st Payment was due to CCCS on 1st June. So, to save money I made the payment online on the 29th May.
However, the pay has not yet reached CCCS. The Co-Op have confirmed the Account Number and Sort code are correct but say I didn't give them a reference number which is why the money is lost.
CCCS have not replied to my last message yet where I requetsed that I send them a bank statement as proof. I hope all goes Ok as I want to start getting these debts paid off now.
With regards to the GE Money issue, I have sent them a letter with my SOA and creditor balances etc recorded delivery yesterday. Hopefully that will sort itself out. I'm confident the threats are just that, threats.

I've been offered a job with potentially a lot more money but also potentially a lot more hours.
My pay now is £16,000 basic with no bonus or overtime but my hours are great. I do 8-4 or 10-6. I have one 7 day week followed by a 3 day week. Which is great for booking holidays as I only need to book 3 days off for a weeks holiday.
However the new job would be £18,000 basic with up to £4,500 bonus. But it 45 hours a week plus alternate Saturdays and the job is a hell of a lot more stressful. I've done this job before somewhere else and it ended up consuming my life and I got really stressed out.
Just don't wanna be kicking myself cos the money is so much more.

I have a contract with Orange which is £35 a month. I have currently been cut off because I owe £88. (People can still get in touch with me, I just can't call or send texts) I am continueing to pay the £35 a month which I can afford as it is in my budget that CCCS have allowed meon my DMP. I am hoping to be able to pay a little off the orange debt over the following months but it will be a little. About £5-£10 a month. I'm a bit scared to call Orange and tell them that as I feel like a prat. £5 a month is a pathetic amount and they aren't going to be happy with that....are they??
