Could you make a bolster cushion from a couple of unloved pillows & use hook+loop letters Valli?

I am going to make this for christmas http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://bp0.blogger.com/_LUYlZ3WLiHY/Ry_UoPv7CcI/AAAAAAAAAhg/Lkb3rbGDg-k/s400/Glass%2BBlock%2BNativity.jpg&imgrefurl=http://sayitonthewall.blogspot.com/2007/11/new-glass-block-nativity.html&h=300&w=400&sz=19&hl=en&start=52&tbnid=4rFyzigKOLeBwM:&tbnh=93&tbnw=124&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dvinyl%2Bglass%2Bblocks%26start%3D40%26gbv%3D2%26ndsp%3D20%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN and also I have bought a white christmas tree vinyl with an overlay of silver stars. I plan to use a blue glass block then light it from inside like the nativity ones are lit.

what a fantastic thread
so far I am planning the following
Mum - laura ashley (baragin)throw with a home stitched cushion
daughter Boyfriend - car tax stamps in a car care hamper
Nephew 1- carmat/bag and some recycled wooden cars
Nephew 2 - crayon roll
Girlfriends - door hangers with bath salts - all home made
also looking at the livewellstitches website I was really inspired by the metal boards , I'm going to price up the stuff to make one or two . for my grandparents, inlaws and aunt and uncle .
that still leaves me 2 nephews(8 & 9) 2 neices (8 & 11) , my sister and her husband, two sets of very special friends, luckily I already have my surrosons gift bought then my 4 but i'll worry about them later don;t think I'll get away with a homemade ds and xbox 360 ( combined birthday and xmas) do you?I am journeying to a debt-free life.
Our estimated debt-free date is January 2040. I'm on a mission to bring that date closer!

Can anyone point me in the direction of a cheap supplier of stuffing, or a cheap alternative way of stuffing a sock monkey?! I don't really need a full bag of the stuff, just to do maybe 3 monkeys in total. I've got an old lumpy pillow - do you think I'd be able to use that if I pull the stuffing into small enough pieces, or would that still be lumpy? Would buying a cheap new pillow or cushion work?0

here you go alot of them are based round the religion of the creator and they are also finished articles to buy but you might get some ideas from it.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0 -
Apologies:o I left in a bit of a hurry last night--the peeps who have Pup's parents had come round to see how he's doing & ended up staying for an impromptu bbq:eek:
Anyhoo..to business! I was thinking about a bolster type cushion, to get the length you'd need for a longer name. Put strips or little squares of hook n loop SIZE=1]that stuff you can get on kid's shoes & makes a lovely scccccccrrrunch sound when you open it! Brand name starts with a V & ends in O, has the letters E,L,C & R in between;)
HEY! Bit of heavy duty card or perhaps plywood; cover in felt; cut out shapes appropriate to child recipient....would that work? Could maybe do summat like High School Musical or Hannah Montana--Transformers are back too are they not? Just thinking on me feet so to speak..& definately an idea for the Nativity....Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

Hi All!!
I'm sorry I've abandoned you for a while I've been so so busy with the house move. We have found a gorgeous brand spanking new top floor apartment to live in but we are now moving 2 weeks sooner than expected!! So I've been rushing around sorting out vans, helpers and of course packing. Today me and the other half are having a bit of a day off from it all after I burst into tears the other day and had a bit of a melt down hehe
Anyway I had to share a bargain I got from studio. It was a huge pack of handmade paper shapes and they are beautiful. They are in different sizes and include hearts, stars, flowers, circles, squares and tags. I'm going to be using them on my cards that I'm giving as Xmas pressies. Sadly they have had to be packed away again in my craft box which won't be opened again until we moveso sadly I won't have anything to show you for a while.
As the move is on the 12th I don't know how much more I will get on here or how soon after getting into the apartment I will get my internet back!! So until I'm back up here regularly again...
...happy crafting for christmas!! Saving hard for a brighter future!:beer:0
